Oops! Sorry, wrong way said the 747 pilot who went left not right

A Crossair 747 jetliner trying to take off for Tahiti made a wrong turn at LAX, going left instead of right, and it turned onto a runway closed for construction. Three construction vehicles were crushed as the workers scattered. No one was hurt! Talk about a tough day in the cockpit!

Try listening to some of the air to ground and ground to ground communications live that are now available on the internet (DFW, for example). It frightening how many times you hear a pilot say "Sorry, I just had a dyslexic attack". Its a wonder we all surrive.

The airline is the French airline Corsair, not Crossair.

Did this incident happen today (Monday)? I left LAX today (a day late for those keeping track).

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- A jumbo jet with 321 people aboard smashed
into three trucks on a taxiway shut down for construction work, forcing
the trucks' drivers to dive for safety before their vehicles were struck
Monday. There were no injuries.

The No. 4 engine of the Tahiti-bound Corsair Boeing 747 slammed into
two big-rig dirt haulers and a pickup at Los Angeles International Airport
early in the morning, said airport spokeswoman Nancy Castles.

The collision cut a huge gash in the outboard engine on the jet's right wing
as it sliced through the big trucks and flattened the pickup.

There was no comment from the French airline. Numerous calls to
Corsair in Los Angeles rang busy.

There was no fire and no fuel leak. It was not known why the aircraft
was on a closed taxiway.

The passengers were taken to a hotel to wait for later flights.

Danny and Jamie Hambarian, married on Saturday, were looking
forward to their honeymoon when the trip ended before the plane ever
got off the ground.

``The plane skidded sideways,'' said Mrs. Hambarian. ``We just felt it.
We didn't know what it hit. It was scary.''

It's a good thing that they were driving and not flying when they had the wreck!

I found an article and the video on the story on KNBC's Web site. http://www.msnbc.com/local/KNBC/214553.asp

The jet sure received some damage. I am curious as to what the pilot had to say about the whole deal. And what does an airline do when a pilot causes what will most likely be a few hundred thousand dollars damage.

If he were employed in this country, he'd probably go out on permanent trauma leave at full pay.

Can you please give me the information where you can "hear" the ground-to-ground communications on the internet.
