Wow, too bad to hear about this. I'll probably just do some treadmill runs at the hotel. Let me know if you'll be downtown.

Holy crap, Cal! Good to see you're still posting!

I finished my 5K all running, though VERY slow. Someone working the race decided to cross the finish line perpendicular to my cross, which slowed me down.

Today I did 40 mins on the elliptical and about 50 minutes of TRX.

Thanks. Congratulations on your accomplishment!

Spent another evening in the ER. More chest pain. I was pretty sure it was my GERD. Thankfully, I was right. The doctor surmised that the aspirin and plavix I am now taking were upsetting my stomach.

Even though I was pretty confident it wasn't another heart attack (significantly different sensations) it was a bit unnerving.

My wife insisted I go to the ER just to be sure. I guess she's not ready to collect on the life insurance yet

Keep up the good work! Run an extra mile for me.

CalVol--I'd suggest always leaving it up to the professionals to diagnose the cause of chest pain! I'd think your wife would want you around a long time.

I gained three pounds last week after losing my Kindle and $90 worth of T passes then dropping my phone into a toilet, and running around the city trying to get a new phone, and not having time to make good food choices. Grr.

Today I did 50 minutes on the ARC Trainer and a mile on the treadmill.

Went running today, for the first time since the race. I only got 1.36 miles or so in, but I ran. Tomorrow I guess I have to do some lifting again.

Las Vegas half marathon 2nd December 2012

Hi,

I was planning on doing the WDW half marathon in Jan 2013 but it is sold out!

So;

I have entered the Las Vegas half marathon on Sunday 2nd December ( taking a week off and flying to LAS from the UK). We run up and down the strip ( closed to traffic) and as we are setting off at 430pm the night time sights should be great)

After that - a few days to enjoy LAS before flying home on Thursday.

Regards

TBS

Did 3.2 miles on the treadmill today at a blistering 15:30 pace. LOL!

I promised my wife I wouldn't run for a few days. So, a brisk walk was all I was allowed.

When I've come back to running after injury, I've done gradual bits. Something like:

5 min walk, gradual build (start at 3.5, increase to 4.5)

1 min jog (6.5)
4 min walk

(repeat a few times)

3 min gradual warm-down, 4.5 down to 3.5

If you do that successfully, then maybe add another min jog, eventually decrease the walking. That's the nice thing about using a treadmill, is you can fairly easily control your speed. Especially -v- running outside with my dog, where she goes into a crazy sprint the second I start to run.

As for me, I did my longest ride on the bike yesterday, 79.6 miles. yea I did one loop around my neighborhood at the end trying to push it to 80, and could have done a little more... Held an 18.4 mph pace, which is pretty decent for me, especially considering that 95% of it was totally solo (latched on with a few guys for a little bit). Oh and I went just over 1/2 way up South Mountain, and also did out/back on San Juan Trail in South Mountain Park (the elevation in the middle is challenging).

I have the following bike events on my calendar:
* Oct 14, Tour de Scottsdale (70 miles)
* Oct 27, Faster Gran Fondo, Scottsdale (100 miles)
* Nov 17, el Tour de Tucson (111 miles)

After that, I'm planning on a 2-4 week break with very limited cycling, then decide what I'll do for spring tours. I have a bit of travel anyway, so the timing is perfect. It is really tough to bike while traveling, especially to places with weather that isn't as nice as AZ

I'm debating on doing a mileage run to Dublin over Veterans' Day Weekend. The nice thing is that I'd be in my taper for Tucson, and could probably go without riding at all for the 3-4 days. I know some people there/from there, and if I go, I'll send out some pulse checks on renting/riding over there.

Got in 3.75 miles today. Ran an easy 2 miles at just under 11 minute pace and then walked the rest of the way.

@Tim good luck with that schedule! Hope you have a great time and set some records!

Ran 4.25 miles on the treadmill today...if you can call 11:30 pace running. Still, it was nice to push the distance/time just a bit.

I felt great afterwards. So, the layoff didn't really hurt much. My Cardiologist told me I probably had better blood flow than I've had in years since they put those stents in. Maybe that explains it.

Last year it was later at night (10pm start) and a total CLUSTER F. Hop on their facebook page and read some of the comments.

Too many people, total lack or organization, having the full marathoners merging into the half marathons (half start, full mid point) and the worst of it is they bottle necked everyone via a casino at the end. People were literaly passing out in the casino...very scary. Took my wife 1.5 HOURS to get through the hotel to the other side to meet up.
