Lap Desk

We've got a long drive coming up with the kids over the holidays and I'm thinking of investing in some lap desks for them so they can draw/write/play in the back seat. I figure these things might be good on planes, too.

I noticed there's soft and hard lap desks for kids - the soft ones, I think, are there for safety reasons.

Anyone have any advice/experience on these things?

Well, I hate to respond to my own posts, but I found this Web site with reviews of some good lap desks.

My experience is that if my son tries to focus too long on something like print in the car, he gets carsick. Just an FYI.

Fortunatelly no travel sikness with our son.

We use a soft lap desk, because of the security warning of the sales clerk, when we bought the desk.
Great thing !!!

He loves painting, puzzling ....
It even beats our DVD car system most of the times ^

We don't have a lap desk, but may invest in one or two for our next flight. In our experience, the tray will not open all the way due to the height of the carseat. A lapdesk would fix that issue.
