Moving around

We will be in Thailand for a month and plan to stay in BKK for 5 nights, CM 5 nights, Krabi 5 nights, Phi Phi 6 nights and Phuket 9 nights with our 3 yr old. She is a pretty happy kid most of the time, but can get overactive if she misses her pm nap. We are a bit wary of the long flight but think we can keep her occupied so she doesn't drive the others nuts on the plane. Just wondering if we are moving her around Thailand too much. We thought we would stay in Krabi rather than do day trips from Phuket which might be more exhausting for all concerned.

Thanks.

YES - you are moving her around way too much - no 3 year old enjoys that. You are visiting places that seem to be quite similar (I've been to Phuket many times and Phi Phi once). Why not stick to just one place - and make day trips as you indicate? You could possibly include Singapore as it is a very kid friendly place with tons of stuff to see and do for a three year old. I would also see about renting a house with nanny (in Phuket) as this will make life a lot easier on all of you.

I think we will skip Krabi and perhaps Phi Phi and stay in Phuket for a couple of weeks. Do you have any recommendations on rental beach properties in Phuket.

Thank you.

Hi DeeElle

You may find what you are looking for using our daily updated on-line newspaper "The Phuket Gazette" at http://www.phuketgazette.net for rental property listing and even perhaps a nanny.

We took our 2 kids to Thailand almost 2 years ago. We spent 3 nights in Chiang Mai, 3 in Krabi, and 1 in BKK (my son (6 years) had only 1.5 weeks off of school- would have loved to stay longer). It was a fantastic trip- the locals were so nice to the kids, and we all had a great time. My kids are used to heavy travel, but this was by far the longest distance trip we'd taken with a short stay. The kids were wonderful on the plane. I brought new Kelly dolls for my daughter (almost 2 yo), which amazingly kept her entertained the entire flight. My kids always seem to enjoy exploring new hotels and searching for toys at the new destination. My daughter did get food poisoning in Krabi, so be really careful about what your little one eats & wash hands a lot (we only ate at nicer restaurants and the hotel breakfasts).
