Bangkok
Hello all,
I'm a newbie to this forum. Any suggestions for a good hotel in Bangkok near the MBK shopping building?
Aloha!

Before someone complains that this is not a "hotel deal", maybe you'd best ask your question in the Travel & Dining section of FT. Scroll down until you see "Thailand".
BTW, not sure how recommended the hotel is, but when we were in Bangkok a few weeks ago I spotted that the Pathumwan Princess is actually right in the MBK shopping center.

I second the Pathumwan Princess. It is actually attached to the MBK centre. The other option would be the Siam Novotel Centre.
All others along the Skytrain line would be good too. The station nearest the MBK Centre is "Stadium".

Try Asiarooms.com or Asiativ.com or Wireddestinations.com and you will see lot of properties close to MBK. Make sure read reviews from other travelers.

One hotel property I fail to mention is Conrad.
I see that OP is HHonors Diamond, and might want to stay in Hilton property.
Conrad is on Wireless Road, and three BTS stops away.
I always have a soft spot for Conrad who honored the Presidential Suite rate mistake.

When asking for a hotel recommendation always mention the price range per night that fits your budget.
There may be other areas where it is better for you to stay because of nightlife, restaurants, street vendors, travel agencies for tours or just more interesting where you can stay in and use the Skytrain to take you to MBK.

When you can get a hotel in Bangkok starting around 600 baht that has air, hot water, private toilet/shower, cable TV and maid service you might want to go with a cheaper place, maybe something around 1500 baht and spend the savings on more tourist junk or on tours!
Asia Hotel is right on a Skytrain stop. From there you can walk to shopping on Phetchaburi Road. Lots of street vendors there, malls, restaurants and travel agencies for tours.

(Near Nana Skytrain, travel agencies for tours, restaurants, malls, street vendors, etc.)
