"Post any Sales, Promotions, Deals here" Thailand thread [pre-2014 archive]

There always seem to be advertised discounts within the Kingdom, but I rarely see anything posted to the FlyerTalk ranks. I know that some people are stuck to thier loyalty program (Starwood, UA, etc), but how about a running list of current promotions.

***Some of these promotions REQUIRE RESIDENCY. These hotels tend not to budge on this issue, requiring a work permit. Don't push them on prmotions that require residency, as you'll get nowhere.***

I'll start with recent ads from The Nation

Can this be had any cheaper locally? For a mileage run PoV, AF's stablemate KL has a comparable fare BKK-TPE which will yield 2-3x more basic miles.

At the moment, the Chedi Chiang Mai Spa is running a two-for-one (or maybe it's 50% off) promotion for Thai residents.

While being shown around the MO Chiang Mai, we were told they have discounted rates for Thai residents too. A massive pool villa normally 50,000 baht would be about 20,000 baht for Thai residents. Thai resident card or work permit required.

Hilton Hua Hin launches Jazz Festival Promotion

The 8th Hua Hin Jazz Festival will be held this year in Hua Hin from 12 to 14 June, 2009.

The Hilton Hua Hin Resort & Spa located in the heart of Hua Hin central, provides the easiest access point to the main Beach stage during the Hua Hin Jazz Festival. Hilton’s “Jazz in Wonderland” beach garden event (located just 2 minutes from the main Beach stage) is an ideal place to chill, grab a bite to eat and a refreshing drink and still be just a stones throw away from the main action.

The hotel has launched a Jazz @ Hilton promotion which includes:

• 2 nights in a Bay Room including Hilton breakfast for 2 for THB 10,000 nett. Or 2 nights in Pacific Suite including Hilton Breakfast for 2 for THB. 18,400 nett.

• 20% food discount at the “Jazz in Wonderland” night event.

While I thank you for posting this and figuring that you may not have verified the existence of this dead, and the comments are not directed at you, but this deal sucks. It's not really a "deal" at all.

I looked up June 26-29 which books the Friday with Sat and Sunday nights free, the room rate for that one night is 8000-10000b, depending on room.

The normal rate is 3000-4000b, depending on room.

The weekends are free because you pay just one price. There's a slight savings booking each night with this promo, but nothing is free.

It looks good in writing, but it's hardly a deal in my world.
