Dinner at Chao Phraya River
Have guests from oversea, who want to have a dinner at Chao Phraya river, preferably Thai Food and in the old town (Rattanakosin) area. For me it's been some time; I have been a couple of times at Supatra Riverhouse, but that is gone...
What would you recommend (views and food quality)? Savoey, Sala Rattanakosin, The Deck by Arun, Above Riva, Rongros or any other one?
thanks!

Personally I quite like Eat Sight Story next to Sala Rattanakosin. They have a nice outdoor deck and good food.
Sala Rattanakosin is good too, especially because of its rooftop and the stunning view from there. The Eagles Nest next door is a bit more low-key but offers same great view. Not sure about food at the latter though as I have only ever gone for drinks.

some feedback:
some of the close to 20 restaurants on rooftops, decks, patios or terraces are very well booked, some full many days in advance
many have "shifts", for example you book 530pm and have to leave 715pm as they have another reservation at 730pm
the best time is from 5.30pm to 7pm, when scenery goes from daylight to sunset and gets dark very fast
many have minimum consumption per table, as more at the front as higher the minimum
prices are of course higher than comparable restaurants...
we booked just 2 days in advance so had to call several eateries until we found one...
the food was pretty lousy so no recommendation, but we could stay at least a bit longer...
but remember, you come for the view and not for the food!

They do have a nice deck on the riverside though, and if it has not changed since I was last there (admittedly pre-Covid), I would highly recommend.

No, it is on the Bangkok side, same Soi as Sala (it is either Soi Tha Tien or the next parallel one (I always mix the two up, but they are connected at the bottom anyway). It is right by the palace and right opposite Wat Arun.

Sometime back I was on a restaurant on the other side of the river and out on a deck into the river like a sort of a platform. The food was very good, the mosquitos not so. I can't remember the name though.

What about dinner on a boat?
I had liked the Manohra dinner: cruise https://www.manohracruises.com/
