TG472 SYD-BKK (normally operated by 744) has been operated by 77W the past two rotations this week, making my a bit nervous about getting downgraded to J from F on my flight on Friday the 3 April.
Is there anything I can do right now to "prepare" for a possible downgrade? TG471 from BKK is not leaving until Friday morning so I won't know for sure until then what aircraft will actually be operating the route.
Any thoughts?

except prepare yourself mentally for a possible downgrade (which I would not do as it is something you will have no influence on) you can not do anything.
just relax and look up Friday morning with relief how the 747 is leaving BKK for SYD

...and if the 77W pops up on FR24 bound for SYD? Do I contact TG or UA (booked with UA miles) for compensation or rebooking?

You can change your ticket through UA, but compensation (if any) would come from TG. A TG equipment swap is not a UA issue.
Anyone who's booking TG F to Australia these days needs to accept there's a chance there will be no F cabin on their flight.
