Flying TPE-BKK and connecting BKK-CDG. 65-minute connection with both flights on TG. Hoping this should be okay. I'll be in J for the first leg and F for the second so I should get off first. Any advice on connecting in BKK?

Connection time in BKK with two tickets

I am flying FRA-BKK in F. The flight is schedule to arrive at 6:20am. I intend to buy a separate ticket in economy from BKK to Rangon. This flight leaves at 8am. Will this work or am I cutting it too close?

Due to Thai changing their flight schedule, the connection time in Bkk of my award flight (Avianca Lifemiles), Dme-Bkk-Syd, has been reduced from 90 mins to an unbelievable 55 mins which I gather is the miniunum connection time at Bangkok (as per the threads above) and this makes me nervous. I can still book this itinerary on the Thai website and Expert Flyer now and it shows it to be a valid routing but I guess I'll be protected as it is all on one PNR. The next flight from Bkk-Syd is the evening flight meaning I will have a 13 hour transit at Bkk!!

Do you think practically I can make the 55 minute transit at Bkk? I'll be in J so should be first off the plane. Also, whilst not in F, do you think I could ask Tg to provide a buggy to expedite the transfer??

I'm not guaranteeing you anything but let me relate a story from a year ago (15 months perhaps).

Our TG flight exSIN departed late. Our 2.5 hour connection to PNH on PG (separate ticket) was in jeopardy. I talked with the purser in flight and was informed a telex was sent to BKK and that was all they could do.

Upon landing we were met by staff and escorted to the transit desk where our PG tix were already printed (TG had arranged with PG) and onto the flight we were.

Bags didn't show up at destination.

TG had our bags delivered to the apt even though PG was the carrier of record.

So, does this guarantee you'll make your connection? Certainly not. But if this is all on 1 ticket then TG will likely do what they can to make it work for you and you probably should cajole the crew to telex ahead to 'expedite' your transit.

TG domestic --> TG intl - 75 min. connection

Hi all - I have a 75 min TG domestic --> TG international connection in BKK coming up in a week (USM-BKK-SIN).
My connection time looks like it meets the MCT, so all is well there.
Can anyone tell me what to expect from a timing standpoint, on a normal basis, for this transfer?
I imagine that I'll arrive into the A gates from USM into BKK.
What gates can I expect the BKK-SIN flight to depart from?
Should I expect some sort of passport control and/or security once arriving from USM into BKK?

I just did the reverse today (domestic --> international) on the way to USM and it took about 30 mins from deboarding until making it to the domestic TG lounge awaiting my USM flight. Can I expect similar on the return?

it should be faster. You can do immigration (passport control) in USM, get a sticker for transfer in BKK.
Arrival will be in A or B or busgate. Go through security and exit to international departure is close to A/B/C/D conjunction
BKK SIN departure gates are pretty random; at the moment often busgates like C2A, C1A, E2A etc.

There's also the (slim) possibility that arrival will be into C/D. On a similar transit two years ago they were shunting everyone down the stairs to the bus but let me head into the terminal to the international arrival area.

wow! VIP treatment for you! bypass security...have never seen that!
for all others arriving domestic into C/D means busgate as they don't let the domestic passengers into the international arrival level

That's not a bypass of security at all.

Having already been stamped out by immy (in my instance at CNX) I was allowed to walk straight into the international arrival area as the bus would have dropped me off 100m away anyway.

I still was required to go through transfer secruity to get back tot he 3rd (int departures) floor.

The surprise was that agents had the wherewithall to realize a bus would just take me to the same spot 100m away.

90 mins - different itins?

I see a few replies that 75 mins should be fine but I'm currently flying USM-BKK on Bangkok Air (arr BKK at 10:20a) and then flying BKK-HKG on CX (dep at 11:50a). Different itineraries.

I'm guessing this may be a challenge? Maybe I should allow more time?

Correct 75 min is the MCT and you have 90. I have seen PG through check bags to CX (though at CNX) and there is an interline agreement so this shouldn't be a problem.

Go through immi in USM and you should be fine. There's always the off chance that you'll be delayed but PG's operations are generally good in the morning and you have a reasonable buffer so long as you take care of immi procedures in USM which might entail showing up a bit early for your PG flight.

Bumping this with another question --
Wondering about a connection --
Arrive on AF on a Sunday morning at 620 am.
Looking at a connection to a TG flight to SYD at 810 am.
I generally carry on my bags. Is this a reasonable possibility?
Thanks.

Legal and doable on one ticket, would not do it on two different tickets. Lots of walking and slow security (IMHO) at BKK.

1h50 is plenty unless your first flight is more than one hour delayed
if you are on one ticket and time is tight due to delay, you should be escorted to the departure gate

Thank Goodness For The Buggy

Got driven upon arriving on a flight in C with a connection in F (Concourse A to E.), and was met at the gate by an agent. I took a video of the whole journey and it took 6 minutes of driving due to pedestrian traffic and the distance involved.

I would venture that even at a brisk walking pace that it would have taken 20 minutes to walk.
