Rate my trip!
Hi
Couple of friends and myself are planning a trip through the South the proposed route is here.
We are looking at starting in Nashville on a Friday and ending up in Dallas for the Texas V OU football game via Austin the following Friday. Ideally we want to get a bit of Nashville in then head south for the weekend maybe go through Montogomery and then down onto the Bayou.
How does that route look and are there any things you can recommend visiting along the way? Also am I being over optimistic trying to drive that far the driving will be shared between two of us.
Any comments welcome
Thanks!
Oh and is there anything to see in Pensacola? When I was a kid I used to watch "Pensacola Wings of Gold" and would really like to see the town even if its just for lunch.

As you head out of Houston, stay on I-10 to 183, and then head north via Luling and Lockhart. That'll take you thru the heart of Texas BBQ country.

That'll add about 30 miles to the drive and 2 inches to the waistline...

Having lived in Texas a while back, it's a great state for "festivals", fairs, and cookoffs.
Here's a search page which might help.

One that I enjoyed is actually in early October. The Texas Rice Festival in Winnie, which is along your route. NASA Space Center might be another stop.

Looks like a fantastic trip to me old boy! Got room for one more
A week should be enough time if you both don't mind driving the odd long stretch. There are plenty of big easy driving roads so you should be fine even if you are driving on the wrong side of the road
TX v OU game is fantastic if you plan to go make sure you buy the tickets a long way in advance.
