A Week to Shop in DFW
I hear DFW is the shopping capital of America. Where are the best places to go for discounted street/high street apparel? What is the Dallas equivalent of Filene's Basement (Chicago, DC), and outlets in semi-rural Michigan and the Midwest where clothes are crazy cheap?
I'm going to score good deals to update my wardrobe. I shop at Nordstrom Rack, Zara, HM, Gap, DSW...anything high end would be at discounted shops (such as Filene's, RIP). Where are the best scores?
Where can I shop for the best vintage/estate finds?
I'm a bargain hunter and I'm going for deals!

Maybe someone else will have a better answer but most of the stuff in Dallas proper is high end with little to no discount. Galleria, Northpark, etc. The northern suburbs are the same way. There are outlets in Allen, Grand Prairie, Hillsboro (hour south), and Terrell (45 min east). A really cool place to go is the outlets in San Marcos which is about 45 min south of Austin. You can find some amazing deals there but not sure if you'd want to head that far south.

I've lived there 30+ years and this is the first time I've ever heard that. Are you talking about the Outlets in Allen?

Lots of shopping in Dallas. But I can't think of any really awesome DISCOUNT stuff here. Sure, there are the outlet malls, but they are the same outlet malls you see all over the country.

Southlake Town Square has your typical mall stores and boutiques, it's a beautiful outdoor shopping area built around a city hall.
For small stores and boutiques go to downtown Grapevine. Plenty of places to eat on Main Street in Grapevine.
For electronics shopping go to Frys Electronics in Irving.
For mall shopping there is North Park Mall, or StoneBriar in Frisco or the Galleria. Discount shopping can be found in Allen at the Allen Premium Outlet.
If you are looking for off the grid shopping D magazine has some suggestions, 10 Best Boutiques in Dallas.
If you want to score some sample or discount goods you have to get an invite to one of the many Dallas Market events.
Dallas has a lot of Vintage and Resale shops. D Magazine has some listed and CBS DFW has a list as well.
There used to be a few sample and wholesale stores off of I-35 South years ago but I think most of those places are gone. Harry Hines has some wholesale stores listed but I am uncertain of the quality as I don't frequent them.
Have fun while you are in Dallas, lots of shopping and restaurants here.

Really good suggestions. Those sample stores and wholesale places are still off of Harry Hines/Royal, etc. just don't go there. I have a friend in the import business and that's the only reason why he's over there. Not the best area of town.
