DFW road construction (summer 2011)

we have to pick up a person tomorrow.7/28....the north entrance is easiest for us....

the last time, missed a turn somewhere, and ended up in lost overshoe....

we will be coming from north dallas....

is the north entrance back to being easy to get in as it was before the rerouting?

do you still have to go on a detour route thru parking lots, etc?...

i'm inclined to just go via the south entrance....we are not as agile as we used to be....

thanks...

As this is about Dallas - Ft. Worth International Airport and can pertain to a number of airlines, it has been relocated to the Unites States - South Forum for members' greater convenience.

Do check the DFW web page. We didn't check, and got stuck in traffic for 3 hours. They closed off the ramp, and I guess a ton of people didn't know. There wasn't even another route to detour through. This was four days ago.

Do not use the north airport entrance. It is a zoo. It will be zoo like for years yet. This is especially true after 8pm as they often close the entire freeway.

Barring a full road closure, the route is the same as before the construction, you're just driving on some temporary roadways and construction zones. The signs are clear.

The detour I'll use from N Dallas to the North entrance (when things get really backed up) is to exit 635 at Freeport. Take Freeport south just past 114 to N Airfield Dr. Make a right. Take Airfield Dr until you cross over International Pkwy (the main road thru DFW) and then take the cloverleaf onto International Pkwy southbound into the airport.

That said, if you're worried, just take 161 to 183 W to the South entrance. It will add a few miles and 5-10 minutes, but is easy and less stress.
