Search has never been great on FT. It has gotten much worse as of late.

What a bunch of morons IB are. They can't even rollback to a somewhat functioning version. I thought that was why the upgrade the other evening which was such a delight for the PST users.

If it wasn't for the excellent knowledge one can gain from FT I would have given up with it long ago.
The members deserve a lot better than the often amateur and shambolic service they are getting.Totally unacceptable and has gone on far too long in my opinion.

There was an outage this weekend with the search that has been repaired. We apologize for the inconveniences.

Not quite. This is what I got when searching for your posts (FT Handle> Find More Posts by IB-Dick):

Search results provided by: ibSearch from Internet Brands

Nothing found to match your search request

Reason: Your search terms were not found

Possible Cause: You may have searched for something our search engine has never seen before. Try using a simpler form of the word, for example if you searched for the word "fishes", try revising your search with the simplistic form "fish" instead.

Possible Cause: You may have searched for something that was missed by the indexer. In this case, if you know for certain your search should have found results, notify us and we will rebuild the appropriate portion of the index.

Please try revising your search terms and try again. If you believe your search terms should be returning results, please create a post in the user support forum, detailing exactly what you were searching for and an idea of what you feel it should be returning for results.

With your feedback, we can improve this search tool to be the best it can be!

Maybe IB should start exploring the possibility of hiring Google as the contractor for search. At least Google delivers!

When I search for my own posts ("search by user name") my most recent posts do not appear. I presume this is part of the problem that is under repair. ^

I believe IB has been "repairng" this particular problem for MONTHS. Just read the master thread on Search Problems. It appears they are having difficulty finding a permanent solution.

On the one hand, you are right that the search function is pretty useless. On the other hand, how do you like the subscription price?

Looking at ads or being required to use an ad blocker? I don't like it.

I'm not crazy about the ads (especially the broken ones that crash IE) but prefer them to paying for FT. At the end of the day this is a free resource to us, and while it is sometimes a train wreck operationally, I think it's ungracious of members to stomp their feet and complain as if they were paying top dollar for services not received.
