Q about Displaying Profile Picture

So I uploaded a picture and I can see it from my profile.

But when I look at members of a group, I'm a stupid Question Mark. And I can't find the stooopid setting to display it (or is there one).

I need my identity! Help me be unique, just like everyone else.

You need to upload it as an avatar to be able to see it in a group I think. Or at least I can see mine, and I uploaded it as an avatar rather than as a profile picture.

OK, I'm a little slow here. I would prefer not to remain a question mark in life (at least life on FT ). I've got as far as the "Edit Avatar" page on MyFlyerTalk. I'm not a computer expert, so I thought I'd select a "Pre-defined Standard Avatar", but how do I go about doing this? If this question has been asked before (and it likely has), could someone post a link? Thanks.

I just did a google image search, filtered for 'small' size and found plenty at the preferred 50x50 pixel size.

There are only two pre-defined avatars and they are pretty lame IMO.

Your best bet is to download an avatar from one of the free sites like this. And there are dozens of other free avatar sites like that one if you dont find what you like. Just Google Free Avatars.

Once you have an avatar downloaded to your computer, go to Edit Avatar under Your Control Panel, Settings and Options. Choose Option 2 - Upload Image From Your Computer and click on Browse. Once you locate the avatar on your computer, select it and then Save Changes at the bottom.

The avatar should be 19.5 KB or smaller and should be static, i.e., no motion.

If you have any difficulties, send me a PM or post back here and we can help.

Good luck.

Thanks, Cholula, for the simple and elegant explanation. Even I, technology doofus that I am, was able to upload an image.

Enquiring minds want to know, however, why you are a chainsaw toting bearded hippy/outdoorsman.

Thank you Cholula for this clear explanation, for the computer challenged. (I actually did manage to figure this out late last night, but took some effort.)

I almost wonder if your post should be a sticky, or referenced in TalkMail, for the benefit of others, who may not visit "Technical Issues" frequently. Perhaps I can make this suggestion to you, as a TalkBoard Member.

You’re certainly welcome.

And my avatar is so that I’ll be intimidating for my new OMNI gig.

But it’s not working. They’ve already figured me out for the lovable little fuzzball that I really am.

And you’re welcome as well.

Good idea about wider publicity on how to display an avatar as you’re right....this is not a very busy forum.

I’ve seen a lot of ?’s instead of avatars and honestly thought it was because folks didn’t have time to load one or didn’t care to do so.

Let me noodle this for a bit and try to think where these avatar directions could be best posted.
