Threads marked as read, last unread "moves"
On fairly regular basis it seems like FT is marking threads in forums I follow as read even if I never looked at them. In some cases this are new threads that weren't even created when I last look at the forum.
I also noticed that sometimes, the "View First Unread" takes me to several posts after the last one I looked at. I know that it is not because I click on "Mark This Forum Read" under forum tools (I very rarely use this feature).
I looked over all the settings, and didn't see anything that would automatically mark threads as Read (did I miss something). I use other Forums which look like they are using similar software to this one (vBulletin I believe) and I haven't experience this problem on any of them.
Does anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks,
Sagy

I've had that happen with both Firefox and IE7. It's been happening for quite a while now for me.
I was also having a problem in Firefox 3 with it not marking them read for quite a while and then it was marking them read, including those I hadn't read. Now it is marking them read as I read them, but it's still marking some read that I haven't, after an unknown period of time.

FT keeps a number of cookies on your browser to determine (together with data saved on their server) when you were online last time and based on that info shows threads as unread or assists you to jump to the last read post. Just take a look at the cookie 'bblastvisit', 'bblastactivity', etc.
When you close your browser or flush cookies you loose the content and reset the clock. This also happens after a certain inactivity. Very troublesome compared to other sites.
