Significant downtime today?

FT seemed to be down for a large period of today - or was it just me and my ISP?

Must be IB's way to show us how addicted we all are and how dependent we are on them and to better shut up about spam and porn or else ...

It wasn't just your imagination.

Oddly enough, the culprit was actually the WebFlyer server (you might have noticed that WebFlyer and InsideFlyer are still down ). Seems we have experienced a major hardware failure on that server and because the FlyerTalk servers were still making calls to the WebFlyer server it was causing FT to time out and crash.

To get FT back up and running, the tech team has delinked the two servers. As a result, some features, like the Airport Code Lookup, aren't working at the moment, but at least the site (FT) is up and running.

Thanks Mike for your explanation. Good luck on getting WF and IF back up.

Same here, wish they would get their finger out and sort out these problems. They never even had the manners to personally inform me that it would be happening again.

I was starting to (irrationally) think the worst (that the plug had been permanently pulled on FT), as every time (over the past day or so) I tried to reach the FT forums (or the FT main page or WF), there was nothing.
