been getting a lot of "database errors" lately

In the past couple of days I've hit the "database error" page a number of times. Usually this is when trying to get to My Flyertalk or something else innocuous, not when searching. Not really a problem as refresh takes care of it, but thought the tech team would like to know.

Thanks!

Joshua at WebFlyer Feb 21, 2007 8:59 am

We will look into this thank you for the input and details;) .

Joshua at WebFlyer Feb 22, 2007 9:21 am

We did find an error and fixed it ;). Let us know if you are still experiencing any problems.

magiciansampras Feb 28, 2007 8:52 pm

Happening to me now when I try to search or go to My Flyertalk. Thanks!

Same. Since I use My FT so extensively I thought all FT was down, until someone pointed out to me the forums work fine.

Ditto

hhoope01 Feb 28, 2007 9:11 pm

And refreshing doesn't seem to be helping this one.

Also, when editing a post, I'm not getting the in place edit window like we have been receiving. And when I try to mark a forum as "read", it doesn't seem to be working.

Actually, it looks like none the "Flyertalk Forum" menu items seem to be working (i.e. Myflyertalk, Calendars, New Posts, Search, etc.). Though FAQ does seem to be working.

birdstrike Feb 28, 2007 9:23 pm

Agree, My Flyertalk generates a database error.

UA Fan Feb 28, 2007 9:24 pm

My private messages don't seem to work.

squeakr Feb 28, 2007 9:37 pm

me neither

Search also returns the database error message.

ILuvParis Feb 28, 2007 9:39 pm

What they said

KVS Feb 28, 2007 9:49 pm

Here are the details of the error:

Code:

MySQL Error  : Table 'datastore' is marked as crashed and should be repaired

I would like to be the first to report that I am having problems with —

...ahh, never mind — I will just say “me too” on the database error attempting to access MyFlyerTalk...

Cholula Feb 28, 2007 10:00 pm

For the last few hours, I just keep getting this when I log-on in the normal way:

"Database Error Database error
The database has encountered a problem.
Please try the following:

* Load the page again by clicking the Refresh button in your web browser.
* Open the www.flyertalk.com home page, then try to open another page.
* Click the Back button to try another link.

The www.flyertalk.com forum technical staff have been notified of the error, though you may contact them if the problem persists.

We apologise for any inconvenience."

The only way I can get in is through: http://web2.flyertalk.com/

BlondeBomber Feb 28, 2007 10:11 pm

me too me too:td:

Oh well, at least I am in good company:D

Nick90274 Feb 28, 2007 11:04 pm

I'm getting quite a bit of those database errors right now as well.

SanDiego1K Feb 28, 2007 11:05 pm

I can't search for new posts, in addition to MyFlyerTalk being down.

Kagehitokiri Feb 28, 2007 11:56 pm

myflyertalk and private messaging (inbox/sending/etc) both > database errors

Kiwi Flyer Mar 1, 2007 12:07 am

I don't know if it is related but I noticed if I am too impatient posting after a previous post (on another thread) I get a message saying please wait xx seconds.

If I wait a bit then try again (yup impatient) I sometimes get a message saying please wait yy seconds. But yy is a bigger number than xx - like the server is somehow going backwards in time?

Same here.

Dovster Mar 1, 2007 1:23 am

In addition to getting the database error when trying to use the PM system or getting to "My FlyerTalk", I am also hitting it when using "Search" -- both regular and advanced.

Hitting it

Urban Dictionary Entry for I'd hit it

Ah yes, as others, I thought FT was completely down because I usually go directly to My Flyertalk, where I got the same error message.

For a while I thought FT was down, as I have my usercp bookmarked. Rar!

Me either, although accessing the forums themselves without doing a search or without looking for threads to which I am subscribed (MyFlyerTalk) works fine.

suefalls Mar 1, 2007 7:09 am

Database error here too. Started Last night. Cant pull up new posts or Search.

cpx Mar 1, 2007 7:17 am

Same here.. especially for "MyFlyertalk" and "New Posts"

bocastephen Mar 1, 2007 8:04 am

Me too...started around 9pm ET last night. I can access threads from the main page, but any attempt to access My Flyertalk or private messages results in the same database error everyone else is seeing.

SanDiego1K Mar 1, 2007 11:30 am

I'm back in. Thanks, Tim and Joshua.

Efrem Mar 1, 2007 11:35 am

Working fine. Got into my profile, started a new thread.

One odd thing about the new thread, though. (It's the one in the AA forum titled "'Account Activity:' Status Change?") When it displayed the new thread my opening post had totally irrelevant content from somewhere else. I clicked "edit" to fix it, the edit box showed the correct content (mine) right away, I clicked Save and this time the correct content showed up in the post. Sounds like a database problem there too, though perhaps a different one and not quite as serious.

Far more serious. Just look at what it's showing for your post:

But from memory, F to SYD has never been a great deal. You might want to consider competitors - try travelmood.co.uk and airnet.co.uk who hae Etihad for £3700.

If you're particularly keen, CAI-SYD (not via LON) on Etihad in F is £1700.

You'll have to Edit/Save to fix it.
