How did I get a referral?

I was looking at my profile and noticed I had a referral. Except I don't remember giving anyone a link with my user id in it, which is what the FAQs say are required to get referrals.

Is there any way to find out who I referred?

Here's the FAQs..

The administrator may have enabled referrals, which allows you to be credited for any new users you invite to the forum.

You gain referrals by promoting FlyerTalk Forums using your unique referral link. The link you should use as your referral link is this:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/index...eferrerid=7493

Each time someone follows this link to FlyerTalk Forums and registers as a new member, your referral count will be incremented by one. The number of referrals you have can be viewed in your profile.

Your administrator will have more information on any prizes or rewards that may be given out for referrals. Please be courteous when promoting FlyerTalk Forums by not spamming other web sites with your referral link just to gain referrals.

Perhaps we all just get one for being a member?

Nah, I just looked at a few people I know. Most of them have zero referrals and a few have 1 or more. Some of those with 1 or more wouldn't know how to get that link if I spelled it out for them

I know the last time I was in my profile - probably around talk board election time, I had zero.

During the registration process, there is a field to fill in the username of a referrer, so the link is not the only way to get a referral.

Many thanks.

I'm in the same boat as you Mary2e.

I've mentioned FT to a number of people but haven't given anyone a referral link (didn't realise it existed until now), but yet have 1 under referrals.

In order to be credited with a referral you don't have to send any links to people to get them to join, they just have to enter your name in the referral field when they sign up. Thanks,

Can we find out who put our userid in during signup? I have a referral too and don't remember who I told my userid to. No biggie, I'm just curious. Thanks!
