Thanks for the Wiki format improvements!

I do a fair amount of work on the AA wiki and I just want to say thanks for the new formatting of the wiki pages (titles are cleaner and there is now a thin line under title headings).

One thing that would be extremely helpful would be a better way of handling external links. Right now if you put in an external link, the text of the link appears, but then the *entire* URL is displayed in parentheses. These days some URLs are huge and a single URL can have unfortunate effects on the formatting of a page. What would be nice is to do something like Wikipedia where an external link is identified by an icon instead of displaying the full URL. The workaround that we've been using on the AA wiki is to put external links on a separate line. Some article authors have even resorted to use tinyurl to get around the problem.

Hopefully this is something that could be fixed

I'd say "a fair amount of work" is a gross understatement

You have been doing a tremendous job with the AA part of the wiki. Your efforts (and, of course, those of all the others who have contributed) are very commendable and you are certainly developing an enormously useful resource for all AA flyers.

Regarding the external links, SLF made a similar suggestion in this thread. We will be making additional changes to the format of the wiki and this suggestion is near the top of the list. Unfortunately, at this time I'm still unsure of a definitive timeframe for completion.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks for the kind words! As you point out, I do get a lot of help...

Quick question - is there a better place for us to discuss wiki issues? Should we have a master thread in this forum or in the suggestions forum?
