Searches returning blank screen

I'm trying to a search or advanced search, but the site keeps returning a blank page at the end of the search. I'm using Firefox on a Mac. THanks.

I am experiencing the same problem using Firefox on a PC. I posted this earlier and received one reply asking for more information. I have not heard anything back.

Searches resulting in a blank page are a problem we are having with FT recently, yes. When this happens it is a result of a search term that is too common on FT and it overloads the search. If you are experiencing this it can be sidestepped it you can use a more specific search term and avoid using terms that are common. Another possible way to get around this problem is to use a FT specific Google search:

This is a problem that we are actively trying to get under control, hopefully these solutions above help you find what you are looking for in the meantime. Thanks,

Since the search feature doesn't seems to be functioning properly. Is it to difficult to post this alternative search function at the top of each forum?

Currently people are posting new threads on subjects that have been discussed in great length.

Thanks for your consideration.

Exclamation Search is misconfigured!

Search is defaulting to "All Open Forums" instead of the particular forum you're in.

All you have to do is just click on "Advanced" and select the particular forum you want to search. It will work fine.

See my post in the other recent "search not working" thread:

I am also having the problem of a 'blank' page being displayed after search - but this is only the case when I'm using FireFox.

...If I switch over to IE 7 RC1 ... the same exact search will return appropriate results and not a blank page.

I'm not sure if this is due to the recent FireFox update - but it definitely appears to me to be an IE vs. FireFox issue.

Kathy,

I've tried to reproduce this issue - but when I do a search from inside any of the forums (I tried MilesBuzz!) ... I only get results from that forum. I did this by clicking on the 'Search this Forum' link and typing my search in the textbox that appears.

I always use the "Advanced" search option. Look carefully at the forum that is selected when you use that option. @:-)

Yup - it used to default to the particular forum is selected through "Search this forum" or all forums if the the more generic "Search". One extra step for me to remember to do.

Seems to be doing it again. Can get to the search screen but as soon as it searches it draws a blank.

Using Safari on a Mac.
