search not working w/.safari & firefox

i've looked at the various "search not working threads" to see if i'm missing something but it's not working for me. i'm using an imac g5 w/osx (tiger 10.4.7) with both safari and firefox. i've cleared all the caches and reset/deleted all my cookies on both browsers and this is what i get:

safari = page cannot be displayed
firefox - blank page

seems the problem is still there. I wouldn't consider searching on the Hilton forum with diamond force award paid as too difficult a search. The old version of the bb did this with aplomb. Works ok for title search but not for all posts search. Even if I limit the time period severely, I still get the dreaded error/blank screen. After all the years of encouraging posters to use search to avoid duplicating, this is a bit discouraging of having several months of this.

Not sure if this is the right thread to post in...

It seems to be common lately to encounter error pages (using explorer 7) when doing searches, especially the advanced searches and searching specifically in the forums or threads using the appropriate tabs.

A reason I post here is because many posters become irritated with duplicated thread topics, and start entire discussions on the subject. But when search does not work properly, it seems difficult to avoid these issues...

This is not a rant... I don't claim to have the answer and solutions, and I am sure the technical staff are doing their best.

There are some problems with the search, it doesn't have to do with using IE7 though.

For some suggestions on working around this until there is a better solution in place. Thank you,
