Being asked to log in repeatedly when you try to search?

If you are asked to login whenever you try to search or view the New Posts page it it likely you have an outdated cookie (with respect to the search server, but the cookie is ok with our main db server so you only have problems with searching). This should solve your problem:

1) Click the 'Log Out' link in the upper right navigation, three links to the right of the 'New Posts' link.

2) Log back in.

3) You should now have no problems when clicking the 'New Posts' link or searching now.

If you are still having the problem now, the above should clear it up now. Thanks,

Is this problem back? I am unable to search. I've tried (to a letter) the instructions above, emptied my cache, and deleted my cookies - on two different browsers.

When I try to search, I've first asked to login again, and when I do that, I'm brought to a "Page Cannot Be Displayed" error.

The problem you are describing is different from the one that is addressed in this thread. Please see:

having problems with search, again

good day,

a few days ago i had a problem doing a search. i came to this forum, and logged out [to clear the cookies] per the information from tim.

at that point, things worked well.

today, i came back and got the same problem. so, i logged out, logged back in, and got the same problem. i have now logged out and logged back in a total of three times [without any other activity on the board] and i am still having the same problem [the computer says i am not logged on].

what gives?

and, why/how does this "outdated cookie" problem exist at all? i -- just as many others -- go to a bazillion other sites and never encounter this problem - only at ft does this happen.

thanks in advance.

at having to jump endlessly through useless hurdles re-entering my password, finding it reported invalid, having to re-register completely. NOT what I would have ever expected nor hoped-for. Very frustrating.

You're having this problem when trying to search?

This thread was from 3.5 years ago, when they were on a totally different search system.

If you're being logged out, manually delete your cookies from this site and re-log in by selecting the "remember me" box.
