Coupon Connection

In the recently closed thread/contest for FLY3s (thanks, Wrigleyville), moderator Plato90 wrote:

Copied to Coupon Connection, as all such giveaways, trades, etc... are to be posted in that forum.

At least one user beside me couldn't get there. Can someone please post more info about this, even though the FLY3s are gone?
Thanks.

You must be on FT for a certain amount of time before being able to access coupon connection. It used to be 100 posts, but I think it's a time thing now, about a month IIRC.

I believe the main reason is to establish some history and/or credibility before allowing people to trade things.

Cheers.

Sounds fair to me.
I'd be appreciative if someone knows the exact qualifications.

I don't think the exact requirements are posted, because last time the exact requirements were posted a number of people abused it badly and posted just to meet the requirements.

You have to be around for a while, and have to post some to. So participate here, and someday not too far off, if you are contributing, you'll be able to see the forum in the list.

I agree with 925.

Quite a few registrations have been suspended/canceled over the last few months when it becomes obvious they are posting fluff so they can qualify for the forums requiring a certain "tenure" for access.

Nope, that may have been the old rule, but it's not the new rule. In the post below, Randy hints at the new rule:

I noticed FWAAA has exactly 9,969 posts in both his postings. Do they only update this during weekly runs or something?

The post count is how many posts the person has now - not how many the person had when they posted.

IIRC, the 30-day rule was in effect sometime in Feb, 2005. And because some "abusive attempts", it was changed to like at least 6 months, sort of a reasonable timeframe for the newbies to "know" others and vise versa. I did notice those abuses calm down quite a bit in the last couple of weeks due to the "enactment" of the new rule.

I really like the way Randy runs our FT community. He's very responsive and keeps FTers in his mind. Though it might not be fair to those very experiences frequently flyers who just "discover" FT so very recently. However, I must say, giving the reputation of FT over the years, how come you would find FT this late!!
