Is it just me or is the search still not working right?

I don't time out, but I've noticed a quirk.
When I limit the search to those I ("Craig6z") made since "Yesterday" on any board, it shows only three that I made, but they were more than two days ago. I've been trying the same type of searches every day the last week, and always get similar limited results.
However if I search under my name for any date, the results look proper.

It is very important for you to remember that when you search you are searching 4 million posts, and the search indexes for this board contain 100,829,957 entries. That's why search has been and always will be a problem in many ways.
We have modified the way vbulletin works so that searches take place on a secondary backup server. We did that so when you run a search it does not impact the performance of the rest of the board, but if you run a search that is not incisive you may not get results -- the result set is just too large.
Craig -- not sure what you may be seeing -- I'll look into it and see.
Thanks,
John

I noticed tonight when I searched that the found threads were not completely in ascending date order by last post. The majority were in that order, but a few (maybe 10%) of the threads with the most recent activity were scattered throughout the rest of the list. I didn't look to see if recent threads were also scattered in the hits listed on other than the first page.
Not a huge concern, but if in looking through the "programming" for other reasons you happen to see why that is occurring and it has an easy fix, that would be appreciated.
(FYI I'm using IE v. 6.0.2900 and XP SP 2)

My search was "fairly specific" ie it was phrase "bonus miles" in the NW forum. It wasn't a site-wide search but I can see what you're sayin John.
For me, on firefox it wouldn't bring anything up, period. on IE it gave me a 404 error.
I did another search today and it worked fine, different phrase, different subforum but I couldn't figure out why it wasn't working...

Agreed. Search isn't working as well as it was prior to whatever was done. I don't know how often the indexing runs but it seems to have trouble with newly-created threads.

Just curious, how often is the duplicate server refreshed? When I search on my name, it only returns results from up through 4/21, and few OMNI results. Just curious.

Search results still not in order

I'm bumping as this appears to be getting worse. Instead of just today's threads being interspersed with the rest of the list on the first page, more of the threads are out of order rather than by "Last Posting Date." (And when I search, I am choosing to sort by "Last Posting Date" in descending order.) The problem appears to still be limited to the first page of the search: in a search with 3 pages of results, subsequent pages appear to be in the proper order. I can't discern any order to the way the results on the first page of the search appear: not Thread name, thread starter, replies, views, nor forum.
When I changed to sort in ascending order, the out of order posts appeared on both the second and third pages.
Thanks for looking into this.

Yes, I've been getting a few strange search responses this a.m.
Related, although maybe not as I'm a non-techie, is on my PC after a search turns up nada and I hit back button, the search words I had entered no longer appear and I have to enter them in and pick my forum all over again. Anyone think that's FT or my wonky PC?

I usually search for my posts for the past week - and none of my recent posts have been showing.
But when I tried to search for my posts from any date - the recent ones appeared. I'll just use "any date" but this is a bit odd.
