The IE page-opening glitch
First, I'd like to tell you guys that I think you have a great website and, for the most part, things have really speeded up since the last major overhaul.
Second, I'm sorry to complain, but this problem that IE users are having (where pages fail to open and you get an "operation aborted" message if your mouse touches one of the headings for a drop-down menu while the page is opening) is driving me crazy.
Is there some setting in IE I need to change, or is this a bug that can only be fixed at your end? And, if the latter, is there a fix in sight?

2. Unfortunately I need to use javascript for other sites that do work properly.
3. You know, I can't really see the logic in downloading another browser because of problems with one site.

Tennisbum, when this happens and you get a blank screen, just do a back page. Then you can redo what you were attempting to do while trying not to move your mouse. It's easier than starting over at Forums Home.

I understand not switching browsers because of one site, and would never expect someone to do so.
I would still encourage you to at least look at the Firefox browser. It is currently more secure than IE and more standards compliant. If you can use a browser that minimizes your exposure to malware and it works the way browsers are supposed to work, why not?

Traveller, actually, I've found that the easiest thing to do is to use the refresh button. It brings up the correct page.
John at Webflyer, I appreciate what you're saying, but since, as Firefox becomes more popular, it is also becoming subject to more attacks

and since I keep our system patched and protected with layers of protection software, I still can't see making the change for one site.

Can't blame me for trying. 
The code for the drop downs was provided by a third party and is commercial software. As soon as they provide a fix for the bug we'll put in place.

More than half the time my pages do not load. Instead, I get a partially loaded page. The thread isn't there, and it's alomst blank except some basic FT layout.
Is this the issue you are describing?
I don't really care that I have to pump the refresh button, it's when I lose a post that I am trying to enter.

What was wrong???
After 20 seconds (like you said) MyFlyerTalk (my FT homepage linked at the top of my browser) showed up, but that was the last FT page I saw in Chicago.

Firefox people:
When T-Mobile HotSpot connects, it opens a default T-Mobile page in IE. Can I switch this to Firefox? Can I uninstall IE completely?

However, some of us'ns use FT from work, and therefore have no choice about who serves up our internet connection. My 'er sees fit to control access at the micro level -- but hey, it's their network.Let's hope your vendor will soon be, um, energized to fix the bug.
