Guys, I don't know if user feedback is appreciated, but on my end FT is blazing again. I say keep all the things off that helped speed the place up!

We think by monday or so it will be much faster as we have several things to tweak this weekend as well as we're going to try and turn off any pop-under ads as well in case that is causing browser hangups. It might be that some of these new blockers are a problem and we'll do what we can to make FT 'friendly' all the time.
Thanks ScottC for the note.

The search function is missed for sure but it sure is nice to have things zip along quite quickly. I have actually found myself browsing through forums that I never would have went to before because I just checked out the new posts function. At any rate, I am sure the search function will be added in due time as the team works through getting things configured for better performance. I will just enjoy being able to get a post to pop up in seconds instead of minutes for now.
Thanks to the team for the work, I kow working through these things can be difficult.

We will re-introduce search but likely have to take the servers down one more time. We think there's an error in search that has hampered us for many months, not just the last one. All 3.6 million threads need to be re-indexed - that's a task. As well, we're thinking of giving search it's own server. Please continue to bear with us the next few weeks and we'll get everything you need attended to.

FT slows to a crawl in the early morning ET hours
I am sure those in Europe are feeling frustrated by this phenomenon, and those of us who rise early in the eastern side of NAmerica are suffering equally. While FT may have resolved most of its server problems, it is clear all is still not well.
I have found reasonable speed has returned during midday and evening hours [Eastern time zone in NAmerica] but in the early hours -- while you folks in Colorado are rightly dozing away soundly -- the site crawls along as slowly as ever. It can take up to 10-minutes to deal with a PM, and four to five just post access and read a single thread!
In this case, it cannot be caused by a high-demand assault on the servers, as I doubt there are more than a few dozen FTers who would be regularly using the site on the other side of the Atlantic. Nor that many, like myself who are checking in between 4am and 7am, as we have returned from trips to the other side, but our bodies have yet to realize we've home again.
So take this as a suggestion that someone out there at the House of Miles set the alarm to 2am MT and check the site out at that hour to see what we're enduring.
