I have the extreme pleasure of telling a moderator to "read the announcements".
We'll be taking the FlyerTalk site offline today, starting at 3pm ET in order to perform maintenance and update functions. We expect the site to be down for about an hour, but if we complete our work earlier, we'll bring it back up then.

Where is the announcement appearing? I dont see any announcement in a few fora I have just rechecked (in case I glazed over it before).
PS Do we need to log off FT now?

We remove the announcements of scheduled downtime after the downtime is over.
