What's the maximum size for a single post?

I'm working on a huge FAQ and I'd like to know whether I have to break it into pieces.

OK, thanks. I think the solution is to post several threads, one for each piece, then lock them before anyone replies. Next I can make a master thread of questions that links to these locked threads, and make the master sticky. Does this sound like the best way to do it? Total size is about 60k bytes of text.

I'd contact the moderator of the forum you're planning on doing this in for guidance.

It's currently unmoderated, but I applied to be a moderator about a week ago. When that happens, I'll be sure to ask myself for advice.

Works for me ^

As for your multiple threads idea... for simplicity, I'd just split your FAQ up into multiple posts, within the same thread. Most of the other forums' FAQ stickies are done that way. That way, everything is in a single thread, and easier to browse through.

Easiest way is to post saying please dont post here, then add posts (however many you think you need), then edit to add the text. That way the info is at the top and easier to find.

What happens when you disagree?

Seriously 15K is a pretty huge post.

I went to update this below after the new FT and got caught by the new (then) 10k cap.

www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=113792

Dan and Randy kindly agreed to lift it to the present 15K to allow those kind of FAQ posts to be added or updated, and as you can see it takes up a LOT of space.

I broke my trip report into about 8 sections (IIRC) because I didn't want to run into the limit (which, somehow, I knew at the time was 15K).

As feared, I got the first couple of sections entered and comments started, kind of breaking up the continuity.

But these are really minor annoyances; we're all adults here (it's not OMNI )
