Why so many "502 Connection Failed" problems?

Why so many "502 Connection Failed" problems?
When trying to access (under FT Miles) the entire United topic and the entire Hilton topic just now, I got:
"502 Connection Failed
This Web page could not be opened. There may be too many people accessing this page or the page may be unavailable. Please try again later."
Tried several times with no luck.
Same thing happened elsewhere, like on the first page of the "What's your favorite spot in San Francisco" thread under FT Travel --San Francisco.
Very frustrating.
