Disable infinite scroll in mobile mode

Can we have an option either to disable infinite scroll in mobile mode or to never use mobile mode at all? Thank you.

If you're asking if you can configure devices not to use mobile mode, then this has been available for a very long while - indeed, I'm using a tablet now in normal browsing mode with no difficulty.

Please see:

Infinite / Automatic Scroll: issues, q&a, disable on desktop version
Automatic scrolling of threads
Switched to mobile view and can't switch back to desktop view

Which you may find useful.

No I am not asking how to configure a tablet to not use mobile mode.

My problem is on desktop browsers. Long ago I set the option, "Disable Infinite Scroll." I also set "Never go to Mobile Skin." However sometimes a desktop browser goes into mobile mode only on FT and the setting gets ignored.

I would like an FT setting that says never use infinite scroll in any mode on any device. It seems like the current 2 options should do that but for some reason do not always work.

You're asking for a technical improvement which is beyond the purview of this forum. Your issue is certainly very close to the situations described in the three links above, so I'm going to move this to the Technical Support forum where the IB team will be able to explain what's possible.

I should emphasise that this issue affects a small percentage of our members (it has me in the past, but not since I applied the fix), and could well be down to a cookie being corrupted so it's unlikely to be a high priority for the tech people.

But, if you don't ask, you don't get!

According to IBJoel's post in the "How do I turn off infinite scroll?" thread, infinite scroll cannot be turned off in the mobile version.

Disable it in your options and then switch to the full site on your mobile device. Mobile skin does not allow you to disable infinite scroll

I've seen this happen when following a link that was created in mobile mode. Solution - don't click on links before examining them closely.

For me the most common way I end up in that situation is by following a Google search result where Google indexed the mobile version of the site.

This can be fixed after the fact, however, see the wiki or post #3 here: Switched to mobile view and can't switch back to desktop view
