A couple of observations

-- The "who quoted me" only appears when you have a new quote

-- When it does appear, there is no distinction of what is a new entry


Any news about Mentions?

I've noticed that the list that pops up for me on the "Quotes" frequently has the wrong threads isted that I was quoted in -- is this a cache issue for me?

The "Who Quoted Me" window is new to me, or I just never noticed it before. Annoyingly, directly above that I get some erroneous code:



Now I need to figure out how to make that window default to staying closed when I load the MyFlyerTalk page. Once there are too many quotes I can see this easily wreaking havoc when viewing the full site on my phone. I'm hosting a DO this weekend and am expecting quite a few posts ;)

Mentions are active. And I'm not sure what you mean. Who Quoted Me is there all the time.

Possibly. Always clear your cache/cookies when trying out a new feature. Or try the site in private browsing mode

How do I clear the cache when using the site on my iPhone (using Google chrome)?

This is Chrome on Android but I guess it's fairly similar on the iPhone

Touch the symbol to the left of the site name

In the menu that pops up choose Cookies and Site data

And then click the trash can to delete site data. Note this will sign you out of the site and you need to log back in again.

Once you view a recent quote, Quoted as an option disappears from the "bell/notification" drop down. If I go to my User Control Panel, I can see recent Quote notifications

It now says it nine times instead of five. :rolleyes: Earlier it was six.

Appreciate you posting all that. On my phone I don’t have that button though or that entire row. I have nothing next to the website name. Below it I have it exactly as in your pic w the yellow symbol next to “flyer talk” and 3 horizontal lines to the left and the search icon to the right. But above it all I see is the web site name nothing else.

And now I have a new problem…. I hit desk top version whole in this thread and now any time I open only this thread I am seeing it all small and weird and there seems to be no way to revert back.

I'm late to the party, but yay! and thank you! to all who made it happen.

My only slight niggling request would be, can the quote panel be put at the top of the page, above the list of subscribed threads?

Where in the Control Panel are you seeing these?

No. For one, we don't want to mess around too much with standard User Control Panel layouts and also most users are simply going to find subbed threads moreimportant

Just a side FYI for anyone else who, like myself, was unsure how to find the 'usercp' without the quote notification, it is linked by the 'MyFlyerTalk' header, or it is this url: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/usercp.php.

Fair enough. I don't really use the subbed threads personally, but I am satisfied to find that if I collapse that panel, they stay collapsed when opening the control panel page again. Thanks again. :)

edit: and I see from another thread here that there's an opinion completely contrary to mine. :p

I primarily use the Subscribed Threads. Now that I have the quotes section... I will still use it since I'm used to it. I wish the quoted section would be able to default open or closed, but I suppose it doesn't really matter.

Thank you for that. But on the left side of that page, there is a column titled Your Control Panel. It's there that I searched for something about quotes, because of the reference to "Control Panel". Does "Control Panel" mean MyFlyerTalk (reached by the link you provided) or does it mean Your Control Panel? (Apparently it means MyFlyerTalk, but I want to be sure I'm understanding correctly.) Thanks for clarification.

It's not in the panel labelled 'Your Control Panel'; it shows up as a separate 'Who Quoted Me' box, below the 'New Subscribed Threads: (n)' box, which are both more in the middle of the page. See post 131 for a screenshot of how it looks.

I still don’t see Who quoted me anywhere.

On all other sites, "MyFlyerTalk" is called "UserCP". I don't know why they decided to change it. My best guess is that it was customized to MFT before IB bought the site and we just kept it instead of standardizing it.

We should be referring to it as "MyFlyerTalk" to prevent confusion. I don't know who in this thread started referring to it as the Control Panel

Got it, thanks. I was looking for a menu item on the left. I didn’t seriously take into consideration to scroll all the way to the bottom of the main section of the webpage potentially prompting a doctor’s visit to have my wrist looked at.

BTW, if you have no new notifications - quotes, likes, PMs, etc. - there is absolutely nothing on the right side to see. Poof! Not even a mention that you have zero notifications.

Is this available on an Android phone?

I still don’t see the post quotes on my drop down. I deleted my entire chrome browsing history on my iPhone. I shut off the phone too. I don’t see the icon that was suggested above to get me to be able to clear my cache. I’m not sure how to find that. Not sure what else to do.

It only appears when there is something to show IME (Win11 and Firefox). I've quoted you here so maybe it'll show now.

Just wanted to let you know that it has stayed at 10 (hasn't increased any more... yet).

Can quote notifications be suppressed in the case of self-quoting? No idea if that's a complicated ask or not, but hopefully it's not. If it is, c'est la vie. :)

Happened to me today. Don't remember having seen it before.

I don't know that they can be suppressed, unfortunately, since it's a completely different product

Hey all I am finally back with my lap top and was hoping to see Post Quotes again but I have nothing under the drop down next to my user name in the top right or when I click on the bell next to my user name it is also not there.

However, for the first time in months I did see something that popped up and showed me I had 4 post quotes, along with my new likes. But then it was gone , I cant seem to find anywhere that shows the post quotes.

Can you advise where do I go to see it? I tried to go to My Flyer Talk and down below my subscribed forums but nothing is there.

To be safe I did clear cookies & cache and logged out & then back in.

I know progress was made as I saw it say 4 post quotes but now I dont see it.

Also seperate issue on my cell phone through google chrome I am still not seeing them and I can not for the life of me figure out how to clear the chase for FT on google chrome. Any help on that would be appreciated as I was told above I need to do that to see them on the mobile version of FT on chrome.

You won't see it under the bell. You'll only see it under "Welcome, happiest_at_40000. | You last visited: Today at xx:xx"

And you will only see it if you have new post quotes and/or new likes.

And if you click on quotes, you should see this one.

But once you click, poof! It disappears until someone else quotes you or likes you.

Hi thank you that really helped. Okay so you area spot on. Like if I have a PM or a like I can see the "notifications center" right where you said by Wlecome Happiest.. However, nothing is there otherwise. I thought I was going crazy.. So if I get a like or a quote I will see it there. PM though is coming in at the bell how it always did.

One issue though is when I did click on "Quotes" just now it did not take me a to a page where I can see my quotes and choose the new one to view. It took me to all subscribed threads I have all in black bold b/c they had a new post I presume. So I can see quotes in this new spot but I still cant go see them, this cant be right.

Lastly if you know how to clear the cache/help me see quotes on my cell would be super appreciative.

On a desktop/laptop, you can use either the Mobile One style or the FT Desktop NG style. Those choices are at the very bottom left. Appearance of some items can vary greatly between the two styles.
