persistent search term

A few days ago, I searched for "traveling" in some forum or maybe thread. (Actually, I think I did. I don't recall for sure, and I certainly don't recall which forum or thread.) Today, and for the past few days, I have found posts that contain the word traveling highlighted in red. Here's an example, from UA Launches World's First Free Transatlantic COVID-19 Testing pilot program.

(If I posted that by copy and paste, the red disappeared, so I pasted it as a .png.) I have looked at the search page and the Keyword(s) field is empty. Any idea what is happening?

[Edit. That paste didn't work. But if you look at the first post of the linked thread and imagine every instance of the word traveling is red, that's what I'm talking about.]

Clear your cache/cookies and see if that works. Have you totally closed your browser since searching?

Thanks for the response. I had already cleared cache and cookies; sorry I forgot to mention that. I believe I have fully restarted the computer, which would necessarily include closing and restarting the browser, since searching, but I'm not positive. i will restart this weekend, and install the new version of Firefox.

I've encountered and successfully fixed this before, and thought I posted about it, but am unsuccessful searching for it (somewhat amusing given the thread subject )

However my dim recollection is that it involved one of the vbseo* cookies, and if you've already deleted those, then I forget what else it might've been...

Sorry this isn't more helpful but maybe it'll provide a hint in the right direction.

Words appearing in bold and orange?

I am having an issue where the word "home" is bolded and orange in any post where it appears. It's very distracting, and I have no idea how to fix this. Please help!

I've had that happen with search terms. For example, if I search for "home" (with or without other search terms), then "home" will be highlighted as you describe in any post for long after I've closed the search window. It's annoying. I believe that deleting FlyerTalk cookies will fix the issue (although you will need to login again). Alternatively, search for some other term that appears less frequently. The new term will be highlighted when it is in a post, but at least it will appear less frequently.

It's likely it's because you searched for it previously. Serpens is correct, clearing FT's cache/cookies on your device will clear it up

Clearing cookies did the trick - thank you both!

Do I have a saved Search?

I use the Search function a lot. But a particular 3-word search from over a week ago seems to have been saved in my profile. Anytime I look at any post that contains any of these 3 words, those words are hightlighted/red as if I'm doing a new Search. How do I turn that off?

If the mechanism is still the same, this is caused by one of the cookies getting "stuck" -- if your browser permits fine-grained control* over site cookies, look for one of the FT cookies that starts with something like "vbseo" and contains the search term being highlighted.

*e.g. I swear this used to be possible in Chrome but have not been able to find it lately. So when this happens to me now, I just delete all my FT cookies (and then I have to login again)

Deleted cookies, thanks! Odd more recent search terms weren't being "saved"
