Responding to Individual Posts in a Thread

Is there a method to respond to an individual post in a thread?
After I post, the thread conversations can veer far from the content I am seeking, although there are posters that hit my issue with good advice and I wish to respond to those individual posts.
In the past one could reply by clicking on the individual post (which would ensure you were on track with that user) but now my post/the other user post gets lost in the giant thread.
Suggestions?
I appreciate being able to benefit from all thoughts and suggestions, but I usually need specific guidance difficult to find in the clutter of the many many posts.

When you click on "Quote", the post to which you are replying will be quoted and when you click on "Multi Quote" and then respond to the thread, it will also be quoted. There is no way to make your response appear immediately following the message to which you are replying.

Also even if your comment gets lost to you within the thread, others will see it and it’ll surely also be a benefit for them :-)
