Could merged threads re-direct go to last page instead of first?

Could merged threads re-direct go to last page instead of first?

it’s all well and good to indicate that the mods have moved a thread as shown in this screenshot



but clicking on the old thread takes you to the first page of the new location as shown in this screenshot — seems like it would be more valuable to redirect to the last page which is where the merge actually exists

The "seam" of the merge can exist anywhere. A merge doesn't just tack on to the end of an existing post, it's more like a zipper, with posts inserting between each other, based on time stamp.

Also, unfortunately, this would be a core change that would have to be approved by not just the Travel Department, but also Auto and Home, who all use the same forum software.

the issue is still that the redirect doesn't go to the first post in the thread that's been merged, but rather to the start of the destination thread (which in the instance I cited is *2005* )
