Problem: some abbreviations written in CAPITALS will auto-uncapitalize.

Will attempt this now using all capitals in the following abbreviations:

PQF: 6785
PQP: 176786
BIS: 112323
(It's possible that the above will display correctly. I am not 100% how the issue is generated.
If the above abbreviations are all in capitals it did NOT happen this time, obviously.)

I have noticed this before, and it has come up again recently in the United forum:
First with this post: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/32922571-post99.html
Then apparently with the following post:

Firefox 84.0.1 with spell-checker, Windows 10.

Pqf: 6785
pqp: 176786
bis: 112323

Okay, so in the first post, it did NOT uncapitalize.
For post number 2, I COPY and PASTED what was written in post number 1, and there is the problem.

Narvik, if you copy and paste and include other, lower-case text, does the "target/main" text un-capitalize itself?

No, apparently not. Interesting.

It's because we disallow all caps to stop "shouting". You have to have at least 1 lowercase letter (it could actually be more, I'd have to check).

This was a major problem in the United Airlines forum recently, so it is good to know the work-around of including at least one lower-case character.

Last year I got around this by changing the "I" in BIS to lower case. I suppose I could have typed some "hidden" text (with at least one non-capitalized letter) in white characters.

2023 United PQF/PQP/BIS Status Milestone Roll Call Thread (Post # 118)

It happened to me again today.

GS 2025 Qualifications ... planning, insights and guesses? (Post # 60)

I quoted a post and replied: $50K - $24K = $26K

Within the quotation I also included "(Post # 54)" after the quoted FlyerTalker's username and "[Emphasis added.]". Reduced to lower case were not only my letters "K", but also the "P" and "E" in the quote.

I got around it by adding a link to this thread.
