FlyerTalk Up, Down, Crash, DDoS, Database Error, etc.
Thursday July 26, 2018, FlyerTalk was under a DDoS / Distributed Denial of Service attack; it seems to be persisting since then. Cloudflare services are keeping the site up, but you may see errors, page call intercepts and delays while the attack is ongoing.
If you are posting content, select all and copy prior to saving or posting to prevent losing your work. Then you can still post it after overcoming the redirect.
For further information on Cloudflare and its workings, see Post #82 by plunet.
FlyerTalk up or down troubles? Check by using: http://isup.me- or http://www.isitdown.us, http://www.doj.me.
Or use this direct link - http://downorisitjustme.com/res.php?url=flyertalk.com
If it is just you, try: reloading the page; emptying your cache; deleting one or more cookies; quitting and restarting your browser or trying an alternate or shutting down and rebooting your device.

Report “Database Error” incidents here
This issue just started this morning. When I click on my flyertalk link it gives me a database error. I can click again and it will eventually let me on the site. Once in, clicking on various threads and/or my favorites also, sometimes, gets this error. Was there a change to FT over night?

There is some database instability this morning (PDT); it has been reported to Internet Brands. Database instability is occasionally a precursor to a crash and temporary suspension of service. It can be caused by external factors, such as a Distributed Denial of Service attack. (In that case, you maybget a Cloudflare intercept while it’s fighting the attack; this may result in a redirect to another page than the one you were on.)
If you are posting anything, be sure to select all and copy to save the information and post again if you get a database error when attempting to save the post data.
Thank you for reporting this.

We are under a DDoS (Distributed Denial Of Service) attack; this has been reported to Admin.
For the moment, if you are replying to a post or adding a post, select and copy your post content prior to saving so you won’t lose your work should you get a Database Error call, or redirected to the FT front page by Cloudflare, when you try to save the post.

P.S. Non-contributive, disruptive or off topic posts will be deleted, as standard policy.

Nothing we can do about this one, folks. It'll stop when the attack ends.
Just FYI, we pay Cloudflare a lot of $ to keep the site up during these attacks. They're our protector.

Checking your browser before accessing FT
Twice today I got a page I've never seen before:
"Checking your browser before accessing flyertalk.com"
"This process may take...."
I've never seen this before and I was using my usual iPadPro with Safari. It happened once on a wifi network that's been giving me trouble today (but which I have used in the past) and now again using my iPhone as a personal hotspot.
What does it mean and what is FT doing to "check" my browser?
