Am not keen on the new homepage. And worse is the ads that are appearing.

Hotel reviews should have its own forum and not a drop thingie.

Now, how do I get rid of those ads AGAIN?

Understood and I really appreciate the feedback.

We are watching the user experience pretty closely and will be able to make adjustments as we move forward.

When techno-geeks have nothing better to do, they redesign a web page that has been working perfectly well ... and then hide all the most-needed elements. WHY? This sucks. Just leave well enough alone. Or, take the basics and spruce it up a bit. But WHY create a whole new page?

These fools must work at Costco ... and have trained at product placement. "It was here last week; where it is now?"

WHY?

I am totally unimpressed and wonder WHY? And WHAT were they hoping to achieve? It's a mess.

Big move backwards, kill functionality to make space for ads/graphics that kill you when accessing on the road and on mobile devices. I went to the trouble of seeking out this thread to record my opinion.

At the very least, please bring back the old header with the links to go straight to the forums.

I agree.

I'm using an ipad and it took me a while to find the drop down menu to navigate into the forums. From the old version, I could click on Community or Support, for instance, and quickly find my way to a forum I wanted to check and then forum jump from there. Now I first must go into the general "forums" page, etc., so it is more steps.

In addition, I have the impression that the new home page is featuring only FT affiliated blogs and authored brief news articles rather than the content that is contributed by members through threads and posts in fora. To me, this is the heart of FT rather than the stuff that the new home page seems to publicize.

Tried the new design on an iPad for the first time this evening, and keep getting linked to a SlingTV site when tapping on some of the content links on the home page. Others don't seem to respond to taps at all, and some will link to the correct page...eventually.

Once navigating to the inner pages of the site, however (using the hamburger menu, albeit with difficulty), normal navigation and linkability returned.

Will try on another iPad to be sure it's not my device, but I think it's the site. It's a fairly significant usability impediment.

New FT web design suks!!

Randy what were you thinking?

I'm channeling Trump.

New design suks! Functionality went OUT the window. Absolutely no use now - Im not looking forward to even attempting to read anything and Ive been a daily reader for years. Cant tell what trip reports Ive read and those I haven't. That just scratches the surface. Oh and I cant jump to various pages like I used to be able to do? WTH did anyone consider user input here?

Whose responsible? They should be fired!!

It's Terrible - worst site ever now!! Hate IT!!!

I'll just pile on to everyone else.... The new homepage is horrible. Too busy, too many photos - this is especially not good for a site where its members are frequent travelers and often on slower connections.

The worst of it all is the extra step to get to what most of us here really want - the forums. This site is built on the forums, yet they are the one thing not prominently displayed when one arrives at the home page...this makes no sense whatsoever - other than if it's to try and drive more traffic to things that make the site owners more money like the FTG site for example.

Ok, tried it on my Kindle Fire HD last night & I don't have the iPad problem. Having said that, the homepage is still a mess & I'm just switching to My Flyertalk as fast as I can to bypass it. Which of course doesn't help IB at all because I'm not clicking on the links on the home page like I did in the past.

Cheers

Ummm...

1. Randy has not been at FT for years.
2. The new design is for the home page only, not the forums.

When was the last time you logged in?

That wasn't your Ipad - we had a problem with a piece of ad creative and it was interfering with the homepage. The creative has been paused and we are investigating the issue. It should be working correctly now.
