Editing multipe posts AFTER replies
I've been watching the comments in a thread (here: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum39/HTML/001036.html ), and the poster has removed a lot of text from 4 or 5 posts.
I'm sure there's a good reason for being able to edit a post, but the ability to edit should be limited to (say) 10 minutes, or until the first reply. Otherwise the whole idea of a bulletin board is compromised - someone can say what they want, then a few days later decide they're not responsible for their actions.
Appreciate your thoughts?

I don't have any problems with people editing posts. I most often edit to correct UBB coding or textual errors.
However, once or twice I've decided the next day that my post didn't contribute anything positive to the discussion, so I've removed it.
Personally, I believe it contributes to the harmony of the community.

willyroo - I am confused. The only person who made any edits in the thread you link above was myself - and I was not the thread starter. They were done within minutes of being posted to correct html or spelling snafus. No text was removed. I use other BB that allow such edits to be made within say 5 or 10 minutes, and thereafter not editable at all, which is a system I like.
Are you perhaps referring to another thread linked withn that thread, where heavy later editing from thread starter makes it a jumble to piece together for a first time reader?

Yes, it was the kawoh thread that I was referring to - thanks for picking that up.
It appears kawoh made some statements that QF (the airline, not the poster!) would love to see. If you make statements that ask for a response from the other participants, then I believe the option to edit should be limited to 10 or 15 minutes.
BTW I've really enjoyed watching the FTs ferreting out this flyalot kawoh qf issue.
