Why was this thread closed and moved?

I know this is not a technical issue... but it is not a suggestion either.

So, hoping this post will get to the right people.

Can someone explain why this thread was closed and moved to TravelBuzz?

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum95/HTML/002532.html

Not sure what in the world it has to do with TravelBuzz.

I notice that the thread on "Support a Great Cause and A FF" is left open.

I certainly felt Ldsant's post was a great opportunity for the FT community to do something good... but if it is not to be allowed... why are others?

Confused here....

William

Sounds more pertinent for a request to the TalkBoard to me than for here. As you state it is not a technical issue at all, but a procedural issue.

The TalkBoard supervises and guides the Moderators we are told. But all their actions and decisions (if any) are in private and are top secret, and FlyerTalkers are never updated on them this year - so good luck in getting a response.

What on earth does the Talkboard have to do with this? Are we not getting a little carried away if we bother them with every question we have??

Perhaps an "e-mail" to Essxjay would be more appropriate? I have emailed with her in the past and know for a fact that she is very swift with her replies. If for some reason her reply makes you need to question the actions may I suggest emailing Randy instead of publicly questioning their (imho excellent) work?

I think we all need to cut the moderators a little slack, they are all doing a marvelous job and I'd hate to see a repeat of the past "moderator grillings" that we had.

just my 2 cents bla bla bla...

The TB serves the following purposes: [*]providing input to FlyerTalk regarding general user issues as may be directed to them by the general FT Member population.[*]responding to action requests from FlyerTalk for issues/situations that fall outside the scope of established policies and procedures[*]ensuring on-going communication & feedback between FlyerTalk and its General Members.

(unquote)

I agree Scott that this might have been far better handled via direct email. But it was not. I did not post this topic, only suggested a possible solution. I happen to think the Moderator of that Forum is performing well this time around.

wharvey was the only person to post to the thread, and then bumped it up 2 weeks later. And it was then moved as per the moderator's clear post. Also to no other posts other than a post from wharvey questioning the moderator's judgement again and a cross post to the same thread.

Scott,

Thank you for your comments.

I was asking a public question because I believe we would all learn from the answer.

No other agenda... and nothing against ANY moderator... I would have asked the same of any one of them.

I am a member of Talkboard (as certain other posters obviously know) and agree that was not the group to address my question to. But then again, I did not realize the TB supervised the moderators... go figure... got to recheck my job description.

Thanks again for YOUR comments Scott.

Perhaps ultimately!

Isn't this one DEFINITELY covered by the job description?

If you missed it the first time, there's no sense having to explain it now. Just forget about it.
