Firewalls and FlyerTalk
This is the first time I've ever run into this, so I'd appreciate any help (simple English would help, as I'm not really a techie):
Using the GuestTek complimentary DSL at the Elliott Grand Hyatt in SEA, I'm finding I have to disable my firewall to access FT and a handful of other sites. Otherwise, I get a "connection refused" prompt.
The firewall is built into Mac OSX, activated by a small application named Impasse, which just puts a GUI on for us non-Unix folks.
I'm a little uncomfortable running a DSL connection without my firewall...and I don't understand why enabling it shuts me out of FT (and WebFlyer).
Help...???
Aloha.

Lokahi,
Sorry there is not really much help that we can offer you. Although several of us here use OSX, we do not use the product you mention. It seems that there is a problem in the configuration of your firewall, but it is nearly impossible for us to figure out where the problem lies.
I wish that I could give you better news, but this is just outside the scope of what we do.
Thanks,
John

John--thanks for the reply. Didn't know if there had ever been reports of problems accessing the site like this before. I have no problems with the firewall, this application, and this configuration at home or with Wayport or other hotel DSL setups I've encountered. Just this particular GuestTek setup...but I'm checking out today, so I'll just leave mystified
