Performance does really seem to have improved. The updates (posts) still take a while though.

It takes about 12-15 sec to load or reload a page for me right now, with an ethernet connection. It is an improvement over not loading at all, but it is still very slow.

S......l......o.......w.....

While I realize the speed will improve with time (at least I hope so anyway)...I'm on a T-1 connection and it's very very slow. I'm not one of those people that believes in "if it ain't broke don't fix it" in every instance, but this is probably one of them that I would have preferred to keep the same.

I'm not complaining as I do appreciate the site but thought I'd offer my opinion as a member.

Hey, I'm logging in less and less and getting more and more work done. :p

However, it would be nice to come by and check in once a day and not feel like I'm wasting my time. Then again, I could post all my questions and replies to others in one big post.

lalala,

I agree with you.

It's so slow that I've gotten down to every two days.

It took me five trys to get to the board period today!

We're zipping along at 1a.m. on the west coast (again). Pity everyone can't be logged on this time and see how the new FT works when you can easily navigate between forums on My FlyerTalk.

Please use the technical forum

Folks, welcome to the new-look forums. You may have noticed, this thread is not really AA-specific or AAdvantage-program specific.

As part of the 'new look' FT, we need to ensure that we're starting our threads in the correct place. We have a Technical Issues forum and that's really where this belongs. We also have a nice new 'redirector' facility, which should direct you to any moved threads.

Thanks for everybody's participation, and for bearing with Ft Admin while the speed issues are resolved.

This new format is terrible. With high speed it took 2 minutes of white screen before anything popped up and another two minutes before I got the reply screen.

Why is it that some people feel the need to fix things that ain't broken?

P.S. the person who wrote that the blue and white was a bit too bright and distracting was dead on. My eyes hurt.

The whole thing is hard to navigate right now. It moves so slowly that you can't even click on various things to trouble shoot and see if that was the area you wanted or not because it takes forever to get into each title.

Overall: frustrating and tiresome. This is probably a good guarantee that less people will continue to post and that AA will look elsewhere for feedback.

Very Slow Page Loads But Even Slower When Using The 'Back' Button

This is in no way meant as a complaint to the IT staff nor is it an admonition to 'hurry up', just an FYI.

I am still experiencing very slow page load and even slower load times when I use the back button on IE 6+/WinXP Pro.

I have experienced this on two different systems in two different locations using two different providers.

I have no doubt that these problems are being worked on as we speak but I have noticed a lot of people are now posting that they are experiencing very fast speeds and I just wanted to let someone know that this isn't the case for everyone...yet.

Thanks. :)

What I'm getting is not a speed issue as much as it is a working/non-working issue. Either the site will respond really fast, or it will not respond within a 60-second period (at which my browser times out). I suspect it all has to do with the load-balancing and other issues Randy has mentioned (see the "An apology" announcement at the top of any forum). It timed out every time I tried to get in last night, leading me to think the site was taken offline at that point. (I don't think it was.)

Anyway, the point is that although some people are now reporting fast speeds at times, there are lingering problems that the staff is aware of. They are busy trying to work the problems out. While it would be nice to have things perfect from the start, it would be rather difficult to simulate what several hundred simultaneous users do to the system without allowing us to try it. Plus, you would have had zero FT for an extra week. ;)

4-13-04 Site very slow again

It has been great. Then today someone put the breaks on again.

This is just a FYI

dan at WebFlyer Apr 13, 2004 2:32 pm

I'm not noticing any slowdown at this end, but we'll keep an eye out.

cblaisd Apr 13, 2004 7:08 pm

Right now it's taking 10-30 seconds to open a page or submit a reply.

ScottC Apr 13, 2004 7:30 pm

Yes, painfully slow at the moment.

dan at WebFlyer Apr 14, 2004 11:45 am

I still don't notice any slowdown here, or at home on a dialup (last night). It could be a sporadic network problem between our host and some users.
