OutOfMemoryError in chat

I've tried to load up the chat applet under Windows XP using the Java 1.4 plug-in but I keep getting an OutOfMemoryError. Here's a sample from the Java console logs:

DigiChat 3.5.0.622

ChatClient.login()

Message of type 32323020 unknown.

Message: byteCount 778268525

java.lang.OutOfMemoryError

Memory: 97,600K Free: 96,552K (98%) .... completed.

I'll send this on to the DigiChat support folks...

Thanks for the error report and heads up.

Okay, digichat just got back to me with the following advice:

"The 1.4 JRE is a new release, and may still have errors that need to be addressed in future revisions. I suggest you tell that user to download and use the 1.3.1_02 plug-in that has been proven to work correctly."

I'll try installing the 1.3.1 JRE. Unfortunately the Sun JDK 1.4.0 wouldn't install because it said I didn't have 50 megs of free disk space, which is obviously wrong since I have about 25 gigs free. I'll give it a shot.
