No, I think FT was down. There aren't any new posts since this morning.

The co-location center where we keep our servers had problems this morning and lost their connection to the internet. During this time the power to the FlyerTalk server was lost and evidentally the UPS for the server failed. I have not received a full report on what exactly happened, but this is my current understanding of this mornings events.

I am expecting a better report from the co-location center soon, but for right now, I am simply happy that FlyerTalk is once again, live.

Thanks,
John

I'm not sure yet what caused Saturday's downtime. When I found the site down last night I manually started the web server software and brought the site back up. So it appears that late Friday night, early Saturday morning the server was power-cycled, and the server software failed to restart. That's all I know right now.

Once again my suggestion is to use a free network management tool like big brother and to have a bunch of shell scripts, which automatically restart crashed processes.

Unfortunately most co-lo facilities offer free ping monitoring. There's plenty of good URL monitoring software and services that should be looked into, Siteseer, etc.
