Voice Recognition Software and FT?
I'm having shoulder surgery on the 7th, and of course it's my right shoulder. How long I'll be in a sling is unknown - depends on how mucked up things are when they get in there.
Typing is gonna be a nightmare.. Do the techno-gurus at FT know if anyone has successfully used any of the voice recognition applications with FT ?

Actually, there was a question about using that type of software on FlyerTalk earlier this year:

Unless voice-recognition software has improved, and they've documented web use, I can't give you a hopeful answer...
You may want to try asking this in FT Community, to see if others have used that kind of software on FlyerTalk, or other websites, specifically form-based ones, such as this.

Pam,
Don't Talkboard members get free use of Dan at Webflyer to fly to your house and type whatever you need him to type?
Seems like a reasonable request since you do not get paid for the position...

My father has arthritis and uses Dragon NaturallySpeaking for light dictation and some web-browsing needs. I'm not sure how well it works with FT, but I'm more than willing to try it and let you know how it does. I'd recommend the USB version, as it comes with it's own sound input device. The quality of the device used for sound input is critical. Most computers come with sound cards that do a sub-standard job of digitizing voice, which results in speech recognition errors. Even if the software's incredible if it's getting garbage it won't be able to recognize anything!

I was the one who posted this question earlier this year. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum72/HTML/000290.html
The Dragon software that I was using was not compatible with the FT board or chat room. Also the Dragon tech dept. was not helpful at all, however, there might be some new updated software available from them so perhaps an email to their marketing dept. will bring results.

Thanks all! I'm afraid I'm reduced to the left hand for typing for a while. And gosh no Doc - no rugby - just 150k miles of putting that laptop in the overhead
So I've had it roto rootered and once I'm healed I should be good to go! (the surgery was moved up to yesterday!)
I also had my son check voice recog software out and his results mirrored yours: not quite ready for prime time yet. They probably don't have a southern translation available anyway
