Pop-up ads again

FT tech people:

FWIW, I'm getting pop ads from Bell Sympatico High Speed Internet since Friday night.

Thanks,
FewMiles..

FewMiles, good morning.

My apologies for the ads. Are you still getting them this morning? How about anybody else? We've told our ad agency to not place them on our site but they seem to have slipped up again. I'll get with them and see if we can get them to pull them.

Thank you for your patience.

Is that where they were coming from? I would find the Sympatico window in the background after closing my @home/netscape browser home screen. Wonder if only Canadian FlyerTalkers were getting it?

Hi Michael, I'm still getting them and in fact got one just now as I hit reply.

Thanks for looking into this.

(I should clarify and say that these are pop-under ads and not pop-ups. Even more annoying than pop-ups, IMHO.)

FewMiles..

Still getting them here--they had stopped for a while, now they're back again. Showing up as a box on my lower task bar.

bj-21.

......and it keeps re-appearing as I move from forum to forum.

Few Miles, Forgive me if I'm repeating what other people have told you, but the shareware program AdSubtract is fabulous. I have it set so that I receive cookies and see ads at websites whose existence I depend on, but nowhere else -- and no popup ads Anywhere. You can also set it to filter out annoyances like background music. The program has a couple of glitches that I wish were better (there are places I will take the site's cookies, but I don't want Doubleclick et al; the program doesn't dsitnguish between pop-up ads and pop-up content) but it's still a great investment (something like $29.95.)
