large (corrupted?) email from flyertalk last week

Hi, Im wondering if flyertalk send out a large email message to all of us registered users sometime last week. Could someone tell me what this message was about?

Also, did any of you experiene any difficulties with that message?? Ive been having some problems with the email service that my ISP provides me (my provider is attglobal.net), and their technical service blamed one large message from flyertalk as the crux of the problem.

I would appreciate any info you would have, and please post if Michael or someone else from FT technical team is reading, please be so kind as to post a reply here since my email service is still down so I wont be able to get any messages for the time being. Thanks!!

RE: What's New at FlyerTalk

Greetings fellow FlyerTalkers.

Here are a few news items and reminders for your continued enjoyment and use of the FlyerTalk boards.

TalkBoard
We are announcing the formal call for applications for the User Advisory Council consisting of members of the community whose purpose is to provide input regarding FlyerTalk feature requests, action requests that fall outside the scope of established policies and procedures, and general user issues as may be directed to them by the FlyerTalk member population. Registered members of FlyerTalk will elect members of this Board.

If you're interested in applying for the TalkBoard (and we hope you are), either as an elected or appointed member please look over the position description and application from the links below.

The TalkBoard consists of ten members, four of whom are selected by the current hosts of FlyerTalk and the remaining six chosen by popular vote of the active FlyerTalk members. The slate of FlyerTalk members who have agreed to be considered for an elected post are confirmed by personal interviews with the FlyerTalk host prior to being named to the ballot.

Of the initial six members chosen by popular vote, one must be based and resident outside of North America. The same is true of those selected by the host of FlyerTalk; one must be based and resident outside of North America. The board will attempt to recognize the diverse membership and interests of the FlyerTalk community.

Board members will represent a variety of member interests, which will not always be "frequent flyer." Members will serve one-year terms.

We will accept applications for the inaugural TalkBoard through Wednesday, September 5th, with general elections being held between Monday, September 10th and Monday, September 24th. Ballot locations will be announced from banners on FlyerTalk as well as formal announcements.

I hope you ll all be interested in the future of FlyerTalk.

FlyerTalk Live!
A reminder of our next FlyerTalk Live! event featuring just about everything you ve ever wanted to know about affinity credit cards and earning miles. Coming up Thursday, August 16th at 9pm ET, Susan Sobbott (SVP of Loyalty Rewards and Alliances, American Express Membership Rewards), Sofia Damianos (Director of Marketing, Diners Club Club Rewards) and Lisa Parks (Business Manager, Citi AAdvantage Credit Card).

FlyerTalk Sidewalk Sale
(or, just another intelligent way to spend that Great American Tax Windfall (it's like found money and it's all yours to spend here at the FlyerTalk Store))

We realized that when we celebrated our third FlyerTalk anniversary we forgot to have a sale in the company store. What s wrong with us? Well, to make up for that, we invite you to the FlyerTalk Sidewalk Sale, where now through the end of September, caps and mugs are on sale for 30% off (ties in with the 3rd anniversary).
Caps normally are $16.95. Now on sale for $11.95
Mugs normally are $9.95. Now on sale for $6.95

P.S. While you re at it, why not dress yourself up with an original FlyerTalk t-shirt? And we have a surprise for you. New FT pins will be arriving next week so get in line to order yours today. These pins are of a new design and feature the oval look of the FlyerTalk logo rather than the square look of the current pins. This is exactly the type of stuff you need to spend your tax rebate check on - it will help stimulate the (FlyerTalk) economy. And as if we need to remind you, now is as good a time as any to order your very own "best selling" new TalkTags for your luggage, briefcase, and backpack. These are certain to strike up a conversation with those travelers "in the know."

A Posting Reminder
I would ask that you all remember we are still adjusting to the role of our volunteer moderators and won t launch new moderators until we feel comfortable of their role. We thank you all for any contributions in helping us determine their role and look forward to continuing to provide resources such as the moderators to help FlyerTalk grow. Moderator1 has kindly provided this reminder for you:

Thanks for the message transcript. My email is back to working normally, but in any event I would appreciate hearing from anybody that may have experienced email problem(s) related to this message. Thanks.

I didn't notice anything wrong with the emails I received both at home and here, so I think it may have been isolated to your ISP account. Granted it was a long email, but I didn't think it would be so long that it would be blocked; normally they aren't that long, but we wanted to include a couple last-minute issues, rather than sending out a second blast. Did your ISP tell you what the incoming message size limit is that they have?

Something that did happen with that last blast, though, is that it may have gone out twice to some people on the list (A few of us inhouse received dupes). The reason behind that is when I started the blast (from a web interface), my computer crashed and I had to start the blast over again. Gotta love it...

Let me know if you have any more problems with our FT emailings...

Thanks, Dan. No further problems. After some more checking, I think my ISP just dropped the ball. I did, however, get the email a total of 4 times.

Thanks.
