I'd rather see 1 or 2 banners on every page. I understand somebody's got to pay for hosting etc., but pop-ups are really irritating.

It's worse than that. Their ad server isn't working properly, so I'm getting this popping up all the time:

"Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80040e14'

Line 1: Incorrect syntax near '/'.

/includes/trackadvt.asp, line 4
"

Quite apart from irritation factor, using pop-ads means that they cause much more interference to web use when they screw up.

This makes this board a real pain in the arse to use.

Here! Here! I will not be returning until these ads are removed. I can not stand this type of lowball advertising. Please, Flyertalk!

I must agree... Please pardon my sounding a bit harsh, but as a software engineer, I am quite annoyed when code doesn't function. So, if you are going to have pop-up window, please ensure they work!!

I am a software engineer, and could lend a hand, if you need one.

EVERYONE:

To aviod this window, disable JavaScript on your browsers.

For IE follow these steps:

1) Tools --> Internet Options

2) Security --> Custom Level

3) Scroll to the bottom of the list until you see "Active Scripting"

4) Check the "Disable" button

5) Click "yes" to the prompt

6) Click OK

7) Refresh the page with the F5 key

For Netscape:

1) Edit --> Preferences

2) Advanced

3) Un-Check the "Enable JavaScript" button

4) Click "Ok"

5) Refresh the page with the F5 key

The pop-up ads are very annoying and I am disappointed that FlyerTalk has resorted to them. Please drop the pop-up ads at once; there has to be a better way for you to earn advertising dollars.

Thank you
(edited to correct typo)

Good morning all. I take it the ads are now gone? We've made it perfectly clear to our ad agency that we will not tolerate "any" popup ads whatsoever on FlyerTalk. Please continue to help us inforce this policy.

Thank you very much for your patience in this matter.
