multiple post problem -- and a suggested fix
I'm not sure what the problem is, but the multiple post thing is way out of hand, with 5 - 10 posts in some threads.
An easy fix: If the last post was by the same user disallow it. It doesn't hurt because the submitter can add to the original post by editing it and you can say that in the error page and even offer a link to edit the post there.

There are times when it's appropriate to add multiple posts to a thread. A better check is for same poster and identical content. Don't even both with the check if the thread was last modified more than, say, five minutes ago.
Of course, a "race condition" is possible if two people attempt to multiply post at the same time.

Thanks for the suggestions.
I'm in the process of deleting all of the multiple posts that have come to my attention.
Also, we have a new BB system that we are attempting to put into play and it has features that will eliminate situations such as this. Please continue to be patient and supportive with us and we'll get this under control asap.
