Back Button

Why doesn't the Back Button work in this forum on my PC? It doesn't work at all, anywhere. It works fine on my laptop (same AOL version). So it must be me! Do I have some sort of setting wrong? (Yes, I have tried the trick of pressing "Back" multiple times fast - no dice.) The only way I can get back is to go through the tree directory at the top of each page.

Thanks

I don't know why the "back" button may not be working, but if it isn't, one way to avoid having to go through the "tree" to get to where you were is to use the right click instead of the left click.

When you want to view a posting (or a topic), instead of clicking on it normally ("left clicking"), use the "right click". It brings a drop-down menu. Select "open in new window". Read the posting in the new window, then close the window and you're back where you were before clicking.

ore when using a MacOS, just hold down the (one) click, and the menu with option 'open in new window' shows too

Also on MacOS, you can avoid the one-second delay for it to decide that you're holding the button down (rather than clicking) by pressing Control (not the usual Mac Command key) when you click. The pop-up menu with that option then appears instantly.

Thank you for all the replies on the Back Button problem. It seemed to be associated to the bookmark I had for this bulletin board. I changed it so I go to the FlyerTalk home page first, then I click on bulletin board. The back button now works. Not sure why that would happen, but I don't mind the extra step.

Thanks.

I've had problems with the back button also, but it may not be the same problem reported here.

One of my machines at home is a sun unix box, running netscape. Sometimes when I use the back button in the flyertalk forum there is no 'wait' indication (usually the cursor turns into a stopwatch) or indication that anything is happening, yet the browser is doing something, but I can't reload the forums part of the main bulletin board page when it gets into this state. At this point, my only option is to kill off the browser, and I have to go to extraordinary measures to do it. (Closing or exiting isn't enough, the process doesn't exit, I have to do a 'kill -9' to get rid of the running process and restart it.)

I'm not sure what's different about flyertalk than other web sites, but this seems to be the only place I have that problem.
