if you are desperate - you can still 'produce' the posters using the search funtion for the UA forum (search last 24 hours, don't enter anything else).

I do not know what the problem is, but do not rule out other possibilities. Other forums have lots of traffic and posts too. I have seen some really bizarre behavior at United, e.g. United page says Topic A last modified at 11AM, but when I read it, I can only see posts until 9AM even when I refresh my browser.

rfrost Sep 29, 2000 12:17 pm

I haven't been able to get there for days. Either it doesn't connect at all, or I get there quickly, but no threads are posted.

PremEx Sep 29, 2000 1:38 pm

If you can manage to get into the United forum and you see no posts, go up to the top of the page and select "View All Topics" from the pull-down menu that you probably have set to "View Topics From The Last 5 Days" or something. This will then display all the posts to you.

I hope this action is just a temporary neccessity!

Michael at WebFlyer Sep 29, 2000 1:39 pm

Sorry for the inconvenience. The problems that we've been having for several days know keep coming back. I'm working on them so please be patient.

Good suggestion, PremEx, which in fact I'd already tried - but to no avail! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

Hey, what a great time to check out/revisit your renowned United website! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Baze Sep 29, 2000 2:34 pm

Michael

The only way I can see the topics in the United forum is to select "Show all topics". And as stated earlier there is a strange one at the top. The topic is no and the topic starter field is blank. The Replies field is also blank. The Last post field has -- 12: AM in it. Maybe if you delete this topic it will fix the problems.

MileageAddict Sep 29, 2000 3:32 pm

Maybe the UA forum is being run by the same folks who operate the www.aa.com website!

Tried the UA board again just now. It was so slow loading that I just gave up, and stopped the transfer. Didn't want it to lock-up my computer again.

There seems to be problems with the Continental boafrd today. Could not enter, after finally getting in could not reply etc. Maybe this is not just a UA problem?

Djlawman Sep 30, 2000 9:29 pm

Might I suggest that those in real need of a UAL fix (although I cannot imagine why, having flown the ****ed United shuttle a few times), do the following:

You can at least get to today's active posts by hitting "click on today's active topics" at the top of the board. That will give you all of today's active UAL topics. Haven't had any problems getting to those topics that way.

it is not browser related. both (Netscape 4.72 and Exkplorer 5.02, both in Mac-versions) show the UA forum empty right now. But I did access todays postings using the search function on UA.

Just happened to me, also, first time it has been totally empty, although its been sloooooow all week.

MileageAddict Oct 1, 2000 3:42 pm

Here's a quick fix that will allow you to access and use the United forum:

Click on the United forum link. The page will load but have no topics. Select SHOW ALL TOPICS from the menu on the right and the page will reload with all 127 pages of discussion. If you use any other time fram such as the last 5 or 10 days, it will not work.

As a GENERAL comment FlyerTalk I feel has been TERRIBLY slow in many sections of September in MANY Forums. MASSES of double triple and quadruple postings in many Forums testify to this I tihnk.

Just to open this little Forum and post last comment was a few mniute exercise

blackjack-21 Oct 2, 2000 12:33 am

Current update at 2:30 A.M. EST--Nothing!!!

UA forum opened quickly, but no threads, completely blank except for the top of the page data.

bj-21.

Rudi Oct 2, 2000 2:30 am

the search function (UA forum) now only produces the following post as the last one:
ncorman posted 10-01-2000 07:03 PM

but on the board the United forum shows the date/time of the last poster as 10-02-2000 02:21AM right now.

BlondeBomber Oct 2, 2000 4:54 am

You can still access by doing the "view all topics" selection (instead of today, 5 days etc.). It is the same problem as last time with an undated post that has messed everything up.

Software or sabotage?

As you can all see we continue to have problems. I'm not sure exactly where the problems lie but it will continue to be our priority. We thought we had it fixed and the problem keeps coming back. Our apologies for the inconvenience that this is causing everybody.

Thank you for you support and for your patience.

Hello all. I "think" we may have licked the problem concerning the United forum...although I'm not holding my breath. Please hit the United area hard and let me know how it performs.

Looks good...any idea what was the problem?

ozstamps Oct 2, 2000 5:15 pm

My take on the problem is some kind of hacker got in and posted that "NO" thread that seemed to be causing the hassles. Hope Michael has the data of who the thread originator was. Just a one word title like that in itself in odd for starters.

Michael at WebFlyer Oct 2, 2000 5:40 pm

ozstamps that's funny that you should mention that as that was something that had definitely crossed my mind. Anyway, Looks like we might be back in business, eh? Help me keep an eye on it and maybe it won't happen again. Thanks to all of you for your patience and your support.

Michael,

Worked fine for me five minutes ago. Loaded very quickly, and all threads were there. Fast response on all threads attempted.

Thanks

bj-21.

PremEx Oct 4, 2000 1:10 pm

Things were humming along fine until just a few minutes ago. Once again United is impossible or extremly slow to open. "Post Reply" in United is also slow or times out. Only United. All others are fine and fast.

goodo Oct 5, 2000 3:57 am

I few days ago i got the United forum to open but with no messages to open. Then it went back to normal, and now it wont even load!

Bummer! I guess I opened my mouth way too soon. I thought we had this one licked but it looks like we haven't. I guess it's going to be much more involved than I thought. Please "continue" to bear with us as continue down this long and bumpy road.
Thanks for your support. Keep the feedback coming as it is very helpful.
